I had a fantastic trip through the Balkans. It was a great mix of history, culture, scenic sights and leisure activities. The early days included some heavy content about the war in Yugoslavia, which was later balanced with more of a fun holiday vibe. And we had lots of free time to explore for ourselves. Kudos also to our tour leader Mia, whose passion for her country and its history were infectious. And she didn't mind socialising with the group after a long day. Part of our wonderful journey is thanks to her, as well as the local tour guides who also did a great job. The reason why I didn't give five stars was down to two issues. The hammam in Sarajevo that was recommended to me turned out to be very basic, and wouldn't even provide a peeling session due to water shortage. Overall it was a rather disappointing experience. The second incident happened in one of the vans we travelled with. It had a faulty exhaust pipe which caused gases to enter the inside of the van. With windows opened and full ventilation on we could manage, and Mia's offer to have the van exchanged halfway was not taken up as no one was badly affected. But it appeared that the driver had been aware of the defect, so he should never have used that vehicle in the first place. Other than those minor glitches the tour was a great and educative experience, and I would definitely recommend it.Show more
