I would like to point out that we were unable to visit the inside of Sagrada Familia in Barcelona due to the demonstration outside the basilica. But as both the local guide and our guide, Joaquin, were with the group, the guides should improvise the situation and talk about the exterior of the basilica. Instead we were just left wandering outside the Basilica on our own. Our tour guide Joaquin, though he’s a nice person, but found him difficult to understand because of his English usage and he speaks on a very low tone. It would be nice if he could provide more information on each city/town that we visited. The tour was promoted as a 4-star tour, but some of the hotels didn't not meet the standards of a 4-star hotel. For example, Santemar Hotel in Santander. The hotel room was very cramped, there was no space to put a luggage rack. I couldn't even use the toilet without closing the bathroom door and I found it noisy as well. Overall all the hotel rooms were clean, but some of the rooms are very small, didn't even have a luggage rack and I had to put my luggage on the desk. I therefore had nowhere else to put my other things. Further all the hotels are not located in city center, we either had to take a taxi or local bus. The tour bus that was used to pick us up from Barcelona was quite cramped. I am not a tall (5’4”) nor an overweight (130 lb) person, and I found I couldn’t even move my feet when I sat down, I had to keep my feet in a 90 degree angle all the time! As I booked my tour with TourRadar, so when I had any questions, I would post them on TourRadar’s portal. It seems that the tour operator On The Go would access the portal and most of the time they couldn’t provide an answer. They would say they’d get back, but unless I followed up, sometimes I wouldn’t hear back from them. For example, prior to my departure from Toronto on May 13, I asked for the name of the driver and/or company whom will meet me at the Santiago de Compostela hotel, Madrid train station and Madrid hotel, to date, I have never heard back. Of course, it wouldn’t matter now as the tour has ended and the drivers had reached out to me. It would be nice to know ahead regarding arrangements such as this. But neither TourRadar nor On The Go could provide an answer nor response. I have traveled with other tour companies and found their procedures very transparent, their staff very professional, unlike TourRadar, On The Go or Julia which aren’t very transparent nor professional.Show more
