  We signed up for Teotihuacan & Basilica of Guadalupe Tour. We mistakenly arrived a day early. During the tour, we were asked to leave the tour at our own expense and return the next day. Later, we received a message that our voucher would not be accepted the next day. We responded with the below email but never received a response. We paid $150 for a tour we never attended plus UBER fare back to our hotel in Roma Norte. Amigo Tour company is more than terrible. Stay away! Dear AM, We did not decide to leave our Pyramid tour on our own. We left our tour, or rather I should say we were kicked off our tour because our guide instructed my husband that we had to leave immediately. At the Plaza de Las Tres Culturas, our guide Alan received a message from the office that our tour tickets were for April 7 not April 6 and we must leave the tour immediately and return April 7 for the tour. We offered to pay extra money to stay on the tour. There were many extra seats on the bus, Alan called the office and was told that was unacceptable. We took an Uber back to our hotel, which was an additional expense and planned on getting the tour again today. Ridiculously, we received a note yesterday afternoon that said, since we chose to leave our tour, our reservation had been canceled. We were unable to secure a time for another tour as April 7 was our last scheduled day in Mexico City. This situation was handled badly and the cancellation is not acceptable. Our Tickets had been scanned and accepted at Miga Cafe. We spent $148 in addition to the Uber fee and our tour was canceled. Other passengers had overheard the tour director tell us that we could not continue in today’s tour and offered a sympathy and support. I took contact information for a few of those people and I intend on telling them what happened. Also, I intend to leave multiple negative reviews explicitly telling people to avoid this company at all cost.Show more

  First tour was the hot air balloon and pyramids. No issues at all, and the guide was genuinely engaging. Second tour was disaster. I have to join Frida Kahlo day tour, arrived at meeting point 27 minutes early. When the guide appeared, participants were split into Spanish and English queues and the guide scanned my voucher, then moved on to process others. There were a lot of people that day, multiple groups from Amigo are departing to different destinations in this morning. I waited in the English queue but no one came to direct us to the bus. When I asked again, I was told the bus had already left. Staff suggested I take a taxi to catch up. I contacted them via WhatsApp and sent a formal complaint. However, they told rescheduling would cost an additional USD $21, and a refund was refused. the reason was that since the other participants had completed the tour, the service had departed as normal, therefore no refund. I have filed a transaction dispute with the bank and filed a complaint to PROFECO. For my next trips to Cancun, I will decide different operators.Show more

  I had to wait many years before I could travel to Tula. I booked a trip many months ago with “Amigo Tours” through Viator (trip title "Teotihuacan Early Access & Tula Small Group Guided Tour"). Then a short while before the trip Amigo Tours I got an e-mail from the, saying that they cancelled it, and I had to contact Viator to tell Viator that I wanted to cancel. That seemed strange. When an operator cancels, it is them that is supposed to contact Viator – unless they do not want Viator to know that they cancelled the trip. I verified this with Viator. I suspect that they did not have the number of people that they wanted booked for the trip. They called it a "force majeure" reason in their unfortunate note to me. When I asked for more details, they did not provide any. I’m sure if they read this post on the Viator site (or elsewhere), they will try to put some reason to make it not look like they are the unethical company that they certainly appear to be. Now, you would assume I would have received my refund. But no, they did not do what they should have with Viator. I had to call Viator to get my refund. Viator customer service was great – I only wish Amigo Tours had a shred of the professionalism, courtesy, and ethical standing that Viator does. For the sake of your own happy travels, be very careful before booking any trip with Amigo Tours. By the way, due to their unethical behavior, I will now never get to Tula in my lifetime. Thanks for destroying something for which I had waited for years, Amigo Tours.Show more
