Yogyakarta

Yogyakarta to Magelang
Head to Candirejo Village on the way to Magelang. Working with a local guide, you'll get insight into this part of Javanese culture, including how people farm multiple crops and what daily life looks like. After eating lunch, it's a drive to Magelang for the night.

Magelang to Solo
Wake up before sunrise and hike Setumbu Hill to catch the morning light over the fog and jungle-covered mountains with temples on top. After you head back down, bike through the village to see Borobudur Temple and the regular market. By evening, drive to Solo.

Solo
Solo is the center of Javanese culture, so you'll spend time getting into the history and traditions here. Visit Mangkunegaran Palace, Triwindhu Market, and Laweyan Village, and you'll get hands-on time learning how to make traditional batik.

Solo to Ngadas
After breakfast, head east to Ngadas Village. Along the way, stop at Alun Alun Malang City Square and the colorful Jodipan Village. You'll get to Ngadas in the late afternoon, a village in the Mt Bromo foothills known for its traditions.

Ngadas
Take an early jeep ride to Bromo Crater. Hike 45 minutes to Penanjakan Hill and catch sunrise, then continue hiking through the Sea of Sands to the crater's top. Have picnic breakfast at Teletubbies Hill, then walk around Ngadas Village to see temples and the holy forest, with lunch and dinner at the homestay.

Kalibaru to Banyuwangi
Drive to Banyuwangi on Java's far eastern coast, arriving this afternoon. Stop at De Djawatan Forest to stretch and take photos. The rest of the day is yours to use however you want, whether that's the hotel pool or exploring Baluran National Park by jeep.

Banyuwangi
Start very early to hike up Ijen Crater and catch the sunrise over the turquoise lake with pinks and oranges in the sky. During the hike, you'll see the sulfur miners working in tough conditions. After coming back down, have breakfast and rest, or continue exploring Banyuwangi.
