The tour overall was not bad. Pros: ● The itinerary was well planned. ● The fellow travellers were very friendly and enjoyable to travel with. ● The main CEO was friendly and helpful. All of the local guides were knowledgeable and friendly. ● The hotel locations were generally very good. ● The two included lunches were excellent. Cons: 1. Some of the hotels were below average. The room we were given in Machu Picchu still had half-dried paint on the walls and had a noticeable smell. We had to leave the window open all night, but unfortunately it faced the lift, so it wasn’t the best experience. Another hotel also had a strong sewage smell. 2. I was concerned about the safety of one of the private vehicles, as two of the seat belts were not working. We informed the local guide, switched seats, and also reported it to the CEO. She said that if I had told her during the day, she could have arranged a different vehicle. I wasn’t entirely convinced, and, interestingly, we ended up using the same car again for the airport transfer. By that point, I had lost interest in raising the issue again. 3. As other travellers have mentioned, be prepared for a significant amount of tipping. Tips are expected for the CEO, various local guides, drivers, skippers, and others, and the CEO will regularly remind the group when and to whom to tip. I believe this reflects the local culture in South America rather than G Adventures specifically.Show more
