Flight to Cape Town
Your southern Africa adventure starts this evening with a flight heading to Cape Town. You'll be in the air as the sun sets, traveling toward the continent's southern tip where your journey truly begins.

- Day 2
Arrival in Cape Town
After landing, you're picked up at Cape Town airport and driven to Helderberg, where you'll get your first real sense of South Africa's Mother City along the way. Once you settle into the hotel, spend some time on the sun terrace taking in the sea views. Later this evening, you'll meet your tour guide over dinner and start planning the days ahead.

- Day 3
Hermanus - Knysna
After breakfast, you'll drive to Hermanus where you can meet the whale-crier during whale season and walk the promenade. The drive continues along the Garden Route to Knysna, a coastal town where oysters and the waterfront are the main attractions. You'll have dinner at a popular local restaurant in the evening.

Landmarks Hermanus Knysna Lagoon - Day 4
Featherbed Nature Reserve, Knysna
Today brings you to the Featherbed Nature Reserve on Knysna's Western Heads, where you'll take a boat and then a tractor out to the reserve. A local guide leads you through roughly 2 km of hiking (though the tractor's available if you'd rather skip the walk). After lunch, the ferry takes you back to the mainland where you have the afternoon and evening free to wander around on your own.

Tsitsikamma National Park - Addo Elephant National Park
Head to Tsitsikamma National Park for a short hike that takes you to the suspension bridge over the Storms River, offering great views from up there. After the hike, you'll continue to the Sundays River Valley and then reach Addo Elephant National Park.

Addo Elephant National Park
You'll spend the day at Addo Elephant National Park doing a game drive on circular roads in your vehicle. The park has around 400 elephants, and you'll likely see buffalo, kudu, black rhino, antelope, and lions hanging around the waterholes.

Graaff-Reinet - Valley of Desolation - Oudtshoorn
You'll check out Graaff-Reinet, the fourth oldest town in South Africa, which has a lot of 19th-century historic buildings worth seeing. From there, head to Valley of Desolation in Camdeboo National Park to see the semi-desert Karoo landscape, then continue on to Oudtshoorn.

Oudtshoorn
Oudtshoorn is your destination today, known as the capital of Klein Karoo and the center for ostrich farming. A tractor tour of an ostrich farm gives you a chance to learn about these birds up close. You'll stay at a game reserve lodge nearby with views of the Swartberg Mountains and chances to see hippos, elephants, and other wildlife at the waterhole.

Landmarks Swartberg Mountains - Day 9
Oudtshoorn - Swartberg Pass
Early risers can do a meerkat safari if the weather cooperates. Later you'll head up to Swartberg Pass for the views. During lunch, you'll have traditional Karoo food at Kobus se Gat, including braai, bobotie, potjiekos, ostrich fillet steak, Karoo lamb, and fresh vegetables. In the afternoon, a bush safari in an open off-road vehicle with rangers lets you see more wildlife, and you'll finish with sunset and starry skies.

Oudtshoorn - Wellington - Robertson Wine Region
You'll drive through the semi-desert of Little Karoo along the world's longest wine route heading to Wellington. Stop in Montagu, known for apricots and peaches. After that, spend time doing wine tasting in Robertson and stay overnight in the wine region with vineyard views all around.

- Day 11
Stellenbosch - Cape Town
Start with a culinary walk through Stellenbosch's historic old town center, learning about the place while trying traditional snacks, local teas, and award-winning wines. You'll see Cape Dutch-style heritage houses along Dorpstreet. Travel to Cape Town and stay near the waterfront, with the Atlantic Ocean, Table Mountain, Devil's Peak, Lion's Head, and Signal Hill all around you.

Cape Town Exploration and Table Mountain
Cape Town's main sights fill your day, starting with the Company's Garden and the Bo-Kaap or Cape Malay Quarter where you'll try traditional koeksisters and samoosas. The highlight comes when you ride the cable car up Table Mountain (if weather cooperates) for those great views of Cape Town and the Cape Peninsula below. Your evening includes a drumming workshop followed by an African dishes dinner at the Gold Restaurant.

Plan your day however you like, or join a trip along the Atlantic coastal road to the Cape of Good Hope nature reserve. Get to the viewpoint at the cape's tip by foot or funicular to see the coastline and the Cape of Storms. Then stop by Boulders Beach to visit the penguin colony.

This is your free day to do what you want. Relax by the pool or walk the beach promenade to Victoria & Alfred Waterfront with its bars, restaurants, boutiques, stores, cinemas, and aquarium. You could also visit Robben Island, the Zeitz MOCAA Museum, or pick another attraction.
