Frankfurt to Bucharest to Predeal
Your trip kicks off with flights from Frankfurt to Bucharest. Once you land, you'll drive through the scenic Prahova Valley heading toward Predeal, taking in the mountain landscape as you go. The day finishes with a wine tasting at Azuga winery where you can try some local sparkling wines.

- Day 2
Peles Castle - Brasov - Bran Castle
Start by visiting Peles Castle, the former summer residence of the Hohenzollern dynasty with its impressive art and antique furniture collections. After that, you'll wander through Brasov's old town to see the Black Church, which features colorfully painted choir stalls and Anatolian carpets. Later, head to Bran Castle sitting high on a rock with its Gothic towers and secret passages, well-known from Dracula stories.

- Day 3
Szeklerland - Bicaz Gorge - Red Lake - Piatra Neamt
You'll drive north through Szeklerland, a region with a Hungarian minority population. Stop at a traditional marketplace in Miercurea Ciuc to pick up local foods and products. Then you'll see the Bicaz Gorge with its steep five-kilometre-long cliffs, followed by the Red Lake, which turned rust-red after an 1837 landslide blocked the Red River. The day ends as you reach Piatra Neamt at the Eastern Carpathians foothills.

Moldavian Monasteries - Bistrita
This day focuses on the Moldavian monasteries of southern Bukovina, founded by Stephen the Great in the 15th and 16th centuries. You'll check out Agapia Monastery to see biblical frescoes, then visit the Voronet Monastery with its distinctive bright lapis lazuli blue exterior against green mountain slopes. After that, you'll explore Moldovita Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where nuns still practice traditional crafts like Easter egg painting. By evening, you'll cross the Tihuta Pass and arrive in Bistrita.

Bistrita
You have the option to walk through Bistrita's medieval town center at your own pace, or if you're interested in something different, ride a narrow-gauge steam train from Viseu de Sus station deep into the forest valleys. This train journey takes you back to the days of lumberjacks, and if you choose it, a hearty picnic lunch happens right in the middle of the forest.

Sighisoara - Biertan
Back in Transylvania, you'll explore Sighisoara and its medieval upper town with its monastery church and tower. Climb the stairs to the hilltop old town and see the house where the real Count Dracula was born. Head up the schoolchildren's staircase to reach the late Gothic hilltop church where you can see countryside views. In the afternoon, visit the fortified church of Biertan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site surrounded by three circular walls, and check out the historic marriage prison.

Bazna - Boian - Blaj
You'll arrive in Bazna and listen to an organ concert in the fortified church before continuing through countryside to Boian. After that, you'll have a typical picnic with local produce. The day wraps up with a wine tasting session in Blaj where you can try regional wines.

Sibiu - Cozia Monastery - Bucharest
Arriving in Sibiu, you'll walk through the beautifully restored city center with the parish church tower. The Great Square features pastel-colored houses with arcades and shop displays that are nice to see. Then you'll cross the South Carpathians over the Red Tower Pass into Wallachia, stopping at Cozia Monastery with its fortress walls and fine Wallachian architecture influenced by Byzantine style. By evening, you'll reach Bucharest, called the 'little Paris of the East,' walking along wide boulevards past the huge parliament building. You'll finish with a farewell dinner in a former caravanserai in the old town near Lipscani Street.

Bucharest to Frankfurt
Your morning involves visiting the Patriarchal Church, the seat of the Romanian Orthodox Patriarch, and the village museum showing what rural life looked like. Your Romanian adventure ends when you drive to the airport for your 1 pm return flight to Frankfurt.
