In Bangkok, our kids were fascinated by the floating market while we enjoyed the local cuisine and warm hospitality. Chiang Mai was our kids' favorite — especially meeting elephants up close and learning about their rescue stories. It was great to have free time in the evenings to enjoy the beach in Phuket. Crossing into Cambodia was easy, and Siem Reap completely captivated us, especially Angkor Wat. Every hotel was comfortable and family-friendly, with good breakfast and convenient locations. The balance between Thailand and Cambodia was just right — from Bangkok’s buzzing street life to Chiang Mai’s peaceful temples, and from the dreamy bays of Phuket to the majestic Angkor complex in Siem Reap. We did have a small hiccup when our domestic flight from Chiang Mai to Phuket was delayed due to weather, but the operator immediately adjusted the schedule and made sure we didn’t miss any activities.
