A very comprehensive tour. A lot of thought was pit into this tour. It was a great combination of city and countryside experience. We had a personal guide and driver in each country and this made a very easy and safe experience. This 8-day tour takes you through northern Thailand's hill tribe villages and natural areas around Chiang Mai. Trek through mountain forests, stay overnight in local Karen and Lahu villages, and raft down the Mae Taeng River. The trip includes visits to Doi Inthanon National Park, Thailand's highest peak, plus time at hot springs and waterfalls. Accommodations mix basic guesthouses with village homestays where you'll sleep in traditional bamboo huts. Your small group (max 12 people, ages 12+) covers about 25-30 km of trekking over multiple days with a local guide who knows the trails and communities. Daily walking ranges from 4-7 hours depending on the route and weather conditions. Several different hill tribe communities welcome overnight stays, particularly Karen villages where families still practice traditional agriculture. The trek goes through Doi Inthanon National Park where you can see the twin royal pagodas and walk to Wachirathan Waterfall.
