  1. Day 1

    Arrival in Hanoi

    You'll get picked up at Hanoi airport and taken to your hotel so you can settle in after your flight. Once you've had time to rest, you'll head out in the late afternoon for a food tour where you'll try local Vietnamese dishes and get a feel for how people eat in the city.

  2. Day 2

    Hanoi to Halong Bay

    Your guide meets you early morning at your hotel in Hanoi Old Quarter, then you'll take the expressway toward Halong Bay with a stop halfway through. After you board the cruise ship, there's welcome drinks and lunch while you sail past the limestone rock formations. In the afternoon you'll visit Sung Sot Cave and climb up Titop Island for either a swim or views from the peak. The evening has a sunset gathering, a cooking class for making fresh noodle rolls, barbecue dinner, a foot bath, and optional activities like squid fishing or karaoke.

  3. Day 3

    Halong Bay to Hanoi to Hue

    Start before sunrise from the sundeck with morning tea or coffee and a buffet breakfast. You'll visit the Halong Bay Pearl Farm to see how pearls get harvested and learn about the process. After that, you'll kayak around and explore the bay on your own. Following lunch while sailing back to harbor, the bus takes you back to Hanoi with a break in the middle. You'll have some free time in Hanoi Old Quarter before boarding your overnight train to Hue, which leaves around 6:30 PM.

    Hue City Tour

    You'll arrive in Hue at 9 AM and get picked up from the train station. Your city tour starts with the Imperial Citadel, then walks through Dong Ba Market. After lunch at a local spot, you'll see Minh Mang Tomb and Khai Dinh Tomb. Before heading to your hotel in the city center, you'll stop at a village where they make conical hats and incense.

    Today you're traveling from Hue to Hoi An by U.S. Army jeep, going over the scenic Hai Van Pass. This jeep experience gives you a different perspective than regular cars or motorbikes would, letting you see the natural landscape in a unique way.

  6. Day 6

    My Son Sanctuary and Hoi An Ancient Town

    Your guide picks you up early from your Hoi An hotel and drives to My Son Sanctuary, a UNESCO site. You'll spend about 2 hours exploring the area, hearing the history from your guide, and watching traditional Champa performances. Then you'll learn how to make rice paper at a local house and eat what you made. Lunch comes at another local house with herbal tea, followed by a boat ride back down the Thu Bon River to Hoi An. Later in the afternoon starting at 2:30 PM, you'll walk through Hoi An Ancient Town visiting old assembly halls and houses, catching performing arts, crossing the Japanese Bridge, and checking out craft shops. Your evening includes a boat ride on Hoai River, releasing flower lanterns, wandering the night market, then heading back to your hotel.

    Your minivan and guide pick you up early for Ba Na Hills, using the most modern cable car in Southeast Asia. You'll see views of Da Nang city from Dream Stream Cable Car Station. Then you'll see the Golden Bridge, Le Jardin D'amour with its 9 gardens, and Linh Ung pagoda. A second cable car takes you to the French Village with street music, art statues, the Campanile, and performances. After a buffet lunch, you'll ride the Lava Train past places like Helios Waterfall, Time Gate, and Moon Kingdom. You'll also spend time in Fantasy Park with its Fairy Forest, Dinosaur Park, rides, and attractions. By late afternoon you'll head back to your Da Nang hotel.

    Minh was the best guide ever. He knew his food and took us to 6 local eating places that we would not have found ourselves. We felt very comfortable with him leading our group of 5 and it was great to spend the evening with him. Minh’s english was perfect which made communication very easy. I totally recommend this tour and Minh.

    This was an excellent trip, visiting places in central Vietnam I had not visited before. I soon found that I was the only person in the group but that caused no problems. The organiser, Viet, kept in touch with me using Whatsap. He/she were very helpful, advising of pick up times for each activity. They also answered promptly and had excellent English skills. I met different people on tours and never felt lonely. Viet also allowed me to change one of my scheduled activities in Hoi An and arranged a more suitable alternative. He also allowed me to cancel one day's activities and refunded me the money. It was all very flexible. Viet arranged daily tours for me with other travel agents. All were very good. The accommodation was also excellent. Each hotel had very friendly staff and were very clean. Breakfast was also good but lacking in choices in Hoi An. I could happily recommend Old Quarter Travel to others.

    Love this trip! Great communications about what was happening every day. This trip was different because we had a different guide every day. It worked because of great communication. Great hotels and breakfast every day. All tours included lunch. Everything was handled for us. Great tour coordination!

    On the overnight train trip from Hanoi to Hoi An, the sleeper car accommodates 4 persons. Is there privacy between the other 2 persons from my wife and me? Can I pay extra to have the sleeper car for my wife and me only?
