Itinerary
- Day 1
Edinburgh to Inverness
Your Outlander journey kicks off with a scenic drive from Edinburgh heading north through the Scottish Highlands. You'll pass by Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument early on, then continue to Doune Castle, which served as Castle Leoch in the show. After that, the route takes you through Trossachs National Park and into Glencoe, where the landscape shifts dramatically with those high mountain passes. By midday you'll reach Fort William, and from there it's on to Glenfinnan to see the famous viaduct before heading toward Loch Ness. The drive wraps up in Inverness, giving you time to settle in for the evening.

- Day 2
Inverness
This day focuses on Clan Fraser lands and older Highland sites around Inverness. You'll start with Glen Affric, exploring its lochs and mountain scenery, then move to the Corrimony Chambered Cairn, which dates back around 4,000 years. By lunchtime you're in Drumnadrochit where you can grab food, and afterward you'll check out Urquhart Castle ruins sitting on Loch Ness. Later, there's a walk to the suspension bridge at Rogie Falls, which is a nice woodland spot. The evening takes you back to Inverness for dinner and drinks at a traditional Scottish pub.

- Day 3
Inverness to Perth
Today centers on Jacobite history and sites connected to the show. You'll begin at Culloden Battlefield, the significant location where Jamie and Claire part ways in the story, and spend time at the visitor centre that honors those who fell there. Next comes Clava Cairns with its ancient ring formations and standing stones thought to have inspired the fictional Craigh na Dun. The route then heads through Cairngorms National Park to Aviemore for lunch. After eating, you'll visit Newtonmore Highland Folk Museum, which has 18th-century crofts that appeared in Outlander scenes. Before finishing in Perth, there's time to explore Killiecrankie battlefield, and you can take a walk along the River Tay before evening settles in.

- Day 4
Perth to Edinburgh
This day hits various filming locations across central Scotland, all connected to Outlander. You'll walk through Falkland's cobbled streets, which doubled as 1940s Inverness in the show, then head to Culross to see Cranesmuir. Lunch happens in Linlithgow, where you can optionally tour the Palace. After that, you'll see Blackness Castle, which played Fort William, and swing by Midhope Castle, the stand-in for Lallybroch. Hopetoun House and Gardens comes next, with scenes featuring the Duke of Sandringham filmed there. You'll wrap up back in Edinburgh by early evening, giving you time to decompress after a full day of location scouting.
