Hanoi
This morning you head out on a private eco-tour through rural Vietnam. You'll pick tea leaves on a 30-year-old plantation, then take a cooking class with a local family. After that, you cycle through rice fields, check out village workshops, and finish with a traditional herb foot soak using recipes from the Muong ethnic minority.

You leave your hotel and drive across the Red River Delta to Ha Long Bay where you board a cruise. Once on the water, you'll explore the dramatic limestone rocks and karst grottoes. Lunch is seafood on the sundeck, then you kayak or swim to explore caves up close. Later, dinner and evening activities happen back on the boat.

Get up early to catch the sunrise over the bay. After breakfast in the dining room, there's an optional Tai Chi class on the sun deck if you want to join. You'll tour a limestone cave with stalagmites and stalactites, have brunch while sailing back, then transfer to your Hanoi accommodation.

Hanoi to Hoa Lu - Tam Coc
You travel about 120 km from Hanoi to Ninh Binh province. There you'll see Hoa Lu, Vietnam's first capital, visiting temples built in the 17th century for Kings Dinh and Le. After a buffet lunch, a 1.5-hour bamboo boat ride takes you through Tam Coc, which locals call 'Halong Bay on land'. Then you cycle through a village for 45 minutes before heading back to Hanoi.

Hue
Today is packed with Hue's cultural sites. A dragon boat ride on the Perfume River gets you to Thien Mu Pagoda, the oldest one in the city. Then you tour the Hue Imperial Citadel, the former home of Vietnam's last royal dynasty. You browse Dong Ba Market, have lunch with local Hue specialties, get an herbal foot bath, visit the Royal Tombs of Khai Dinh and Minh Mang, and stop at villages known for conical hats and incense sticks.

Hoi An
You start at Vy's Market Restaurant and explore Hoi An's central market in a small group, learning about fresh ingredients, spices, herbs, rice, and unusual fruits. At the restaurant's interactive food counters, you see how different dishes come together. Then you spend 2.5 hours in a cooking lesson preparing dishes that you'll eat right after. You take home a Vietnamese cooking utensil and recipe copies.

You travel to Cai Be to see a former wholesale floating market on the Tien River. There you'll learn about local trading traditions and Mekong Delta fruit orchards. Small villages give you a look at coconut fudge and rice popcorn production, and you'll hear Southern Vietnamese folk music. Paddling through small canals, you visit Tan Phong Island, help prepare Vietnamese specialties for lunch in a local garden, cycle through orchards, and stop at Ba Kiệt's ancient house before heading to Can Tho.

About 90 minutes outside Ho Chi Minh City, you explore Cu Chi Tunnels in the countryside. You'll learn what life was like there and why the Vietnamese people showed such resilience. You try manioc, the main food for guerilla warriors, and can optionally shoot weapons at a range.

After breakfast you take a bus from Ho Chi Minh City to Phnom Penh. Once there, you check in and visit the Royal Palace, the king's official residence. Next is the Silver Pagoda containing cultural treasures like a 90 kg golden Buddha studded with 2,086 diamonds. You finish at Wat Phnom Temple, one of Cambodia's most important pagodas from 1373.

Phnom Penh
Following breakfast you visit Tuol Sleng Museum, the S-21 prison where Pol Pot held over 17,000 people before they were taken to the killing fields. Driving 15 km south, you see Choeng Ek where those 17,000 people were executed. Later you browse Russian Market for cheap clothing, Buddha images, carvings, jewelry, silk, and instruments. You finish with a sunset cruise on the Tonle Sap and Mekong Rivers.

You tour the Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, Elephants Terrace, and Terrace of the Leper King, then see Ta Prohm surrounded by jungle. Angkor Wat, the world's largest temple at 200 hectares, is next. Evening brings a tuk tuk tour around Siem Reap and a blessing ceremony with Buddhist monks.
