Itinerary
- Day 1
Casablanca to Rabat
You'll arrive in Casablanca and head straight to the Hassan II Mosque, where that striking 210-meter minaret rises right out of the ocean. After exploring the mosque, travel north to Rabat. There you'll walk through the Chellah Necropolis, checking out the Roman and Islamic ruins scattered around. Then make your way into the Kasbah des Oudaias old city and spend time in the peaceful Andalusian Gardens. Before the day wraps up, you'll see the Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of Mohamed V.

- Day 2
Rabat to Chefchaouen
Head north to Chefchaouen, the blue city. If you're up for it, there's an optional 2 to 3 hour hike through green vegetation to reach Cascades d'Akchour waterfalls before arriving in the charming blue-painted medina. Once there, wander the narrow streets and check out Plaza Outa el-Hammam. Visit the Grand Mosque and kasbah, which has a garden, museum, and old prison cells you can see. As evening comes around, hike about 20 to 30 minutes up to an abandoned white Spanish Mosque for sunset views across the city.

- Day 3
Meknes - Fes
Start early to photograph the quiet streets before heading to Fes. You'll stop at the UNESCO-protected Volubilis ruins to explore Roman temples, merchant homes with ancient heating systems, and mosaics. From there, continue to Meknes and visit the Ville Imperiale, medina, Bab al-Mansour gate, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. The Royal Stables are also on the agenda. Later, travel to Fes and climb up to the Merenid Tombs for panoramic views of the city before checking into your riad.

- Day 4
Fes
You'll spend the day in Fes el Bali, the most complete medieval medina in the Arab world and a UNESCO World Heritage site. A local guide helps you navigate from Bab Boujeloud gate onto Talaa Kebira, where you'll browse souks featuring Spanish and Tunisian influenced architecture. One of the highlights is seeing the 11th-century Chouara Tannery from a leather shop rooftop, watching the dye pots and workers below. You'll also visit the Al-Qarawiyyin Library and Mosque, which was founded back in 859 CE.

Fes

Then walk to the Mellah, the historic Jewish quarter, where you can get panoramic city photos. Later, check out the Ville Nouvelle's architecture and tour a Ceramics and Tile Collective to watch artisans working. Wrap up your day at Jnan Sbil gardens with its fountains and lake.

Fes to Merzouga
Leave early and travel south through the Col du Zad pass and Middle Atlas cedar forests, where you might spot Barbary Macaque monkeys. Stop in Midelt to grab lunch, then continue over Tizi n'Talremt pass through the Ziz Valley oases. You'll see fortified ksar houses along the way. Visit Erfoud's date festival area and fossil collective, then reach the Erg Chebbi sand dunes. Take a camel ride through the dunes to your desert camp, trek up a dune for sunset, and end the evening with dinner by the campfire.

Tinerhir - Todra Gorge
Wake up early to photograph the desert sunrise, then pick between visiting desert villages or trying adventure sports like sandboarding or ATV tours. Head to Khemliya Saharan village to experience traditional drumming, music, and dancing, plus a short village walk. Afterward, travel to Rissani market town through its impressive gate, exploring the livestock auction and the unique donkey parking lot. Continue to Tinerhir for river oasis views, then finish at Todra Gorge for walks along the nearly 1000-foot high red limestone canyon and cool river waters.

Ouarzazate - Aït Benhaddou
Travel through the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs and Dades Valley to Kela'a M'gouna, where you'll see cultivated rose bushes and visit a rose collective to learn about rose water and oil production. Head west to Ouarzazate, North Africa's movie capital, and tour a film studio and Musee du Cinema to explore filmmaking history and films like Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator. Spend the afternoon at the UNESCO World Heritage Ait Benhaddou kasbah, an 11th-century trade route settlement. Wander the late afternoon alleys, climb to the old Granary for panoramic views, and have a quiet dinner overlooking the valley.

- Day 9
Aït Benhaddou to Marrakech
Depart early to ascend over the High Atlas mountains with views of Mount Toubkal, the range's highest peak. You'll stop at an Argan Oil Cooperative in Taddert to learn how argan nuts and fruit are processed and try samples. As you descend, the landscape shifts dramatically from rocky terrain to foothills to flat plains, with the climate changing too. Settle into your Marrakech hotel for the afternoon, then in early evening head to Jemaa el-Fna Square, which comes alive with musicians, performers, snake charmers, and food stalls. Or relax with mint tea at one of the surrounding cafes.

- Day 10
Marrakech
Explore Marrakech, the Red City, named for its 1000-year-old red sandstone walls. This Berber-rooted city was once an important trading capital. Orient yourself around Jemaa el-Fna, with souks to the north, Koutoubia Mosque and Gardens to the west, and the kasbah area (Saadian Tombs, Bahia Palace, El Badi Palace) to the south. Tour by caleche horse-drawn carriage, check out medieval fondouks that are now residences or shops, relax in Koutoubia Gardens, and browse souks like Souk el Attarin, Souk Chouari, and Souk Smata for spices and crafts. See Souk des Teinturiers and Ben Youssef Madrasa's 16th-century Islamic architecture.

- Day 11
Marrakech to Casablanca
Rise early to visit the 500-year-old Saadian Tombs and see the detailed craftsmanship. Then transfer to Casablanca. Depending on your flight details, you might stroll Boulevard de la Corniche and stop at Rick's Cafe, the bar and restaurant inspired by the classic Casablanca film, for a final meal before heading to the airport.
