Loved the Acatenango volcano tour! Prior to the tour, there were some drive around in the city centre to pick up the group members. Then there was a short briefing about the route, time for rental equipment if needed. I hired a porter to take my bag and walking sticks. The hike up of approx 5 hours was smooth. Plentiful rest stops. Then a short break and another 2 hours walk to watch Fuego volcano. It was super spectacular as the volcano was very active and we took many photos and videos. Dinner was pasta con carne 😉 tasty and warm after the hike. Then a short nap for some brave ones who went for the sunrise climb (I skipped it). The sleeping tent had 9 pax but space enough for everyone. Each person has a sleeping bag. There was no time to have a change of clothes or shower but fatigue overcome me despite snoring folks to my left and right 😆😆 There’s a basic toilet at the camp. Morning call at 630am with banana bread and hot chocolate. Fuego is still spewing smoke opposite! Climb down was only 3 hours, very easy. There were some small shops/ vendors on the way up and down selling snacks and drinks, some souvenirs closer to the entrance. I highly recommend this tour, however some level of fitness and stamina is needed to carry the 4,5 litres of water in the bag pack and to conquer the upslope hike. 😉 A rewarding climb!Show more

Pre-tour coordination by Hector from GTM was excellent. He’s always in constant contact during the 2 days tour and ensured that everything went ok. Day 1 Tikal tour was amazing. Archaeological site is huge but lots of photo stops and rests. Good explanation by your guide, Israel. Flores overnight hotel was conveniently located in city centre and close to transport and restaurants. Hotel has air con and fan, warm water. breakfast was next to lake providing a relaxing mood. Day 2 helicopter tour to El Mirador was smooth. El Mirador was more ancient than Tikal and more rugged in subtropical forest. There were almost no other tourist groups on the island and it was as if we had the whole place to ourselves! Pilot Jair was friendly and explained about terrain where we flew over. There were 6 pax in the helicopter, El Mirador guide, Caesar, was patient and explained everything well. We were very fortunate to meet with Mr Richard Hansen, the archaeologist who discovered some site by chance! Some walking and climbs, good walking shoes needed. Overall highly recommended and well worth the time saved with the helicopter tour!Show more

Payment information
- For any tour departing before April 17th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after April 17th, 2026, a minimum payment of 30% is required to confirm your booking with GTM Tour Guide and Travel Services. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 35 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
