Reviews of Small Group tours to Guatemala
- Guatemala to Belize Experience
Guatemala Antigua Tikal Caye Caulker with Marvelus Travel. Well organized guided independent tour. Excellent communication via email, text and app. Thank you Olivia.
- Best of Guatemala 8 Day Tour (Private)
A very well-organized tour, with a superb selection of sites to visit that showcase the country's cultural, social, historical, and archaeological richness. The local operator provided excellent service with transfers, hotels, transportation, and specialized guides. I give special recognition to guide Abraham for his dedication, preparation, and warmth in his treatment of us. The service was excellent, almost personalized, and we want to express our gratitude for all his attention.
- Guatemala Highlight Tours
Did the highlights of Guatemala, my 2nd tour with Marvelus. Went to Antigua, Hiked Acatanengo in place of Pacaya for which was charged a bit more which if fine because Acatanengo is overnight hike. It is definitely a tougher hike than Pacaya but well worth it if you can as the Lava flows from el Fuego after sunset will blow your mind away. Antigua itself is a small town with Cobblestone streets, Spanish colonial architecture, good street food so good time there. accommodation was pretty good there. Next to Lanquin and did Semuc Champey, Kanba caves & river tubing which was one of the best experience of my life. The riverside resort (El retiro lodge) in Lanquin was amazing too. Next to Flores a small island in lake Peten Itza. Accommodation was very basic but the beauty of the small island made up for it. The included Tikal tour from Flores was excellent. Cesar our guide was very knowledgeable and did a wonderful job. Overall a very good short trip of 8 days. Marvelus did a good job of transport, accommodation, a few tours. were flexible to give me Acatanengo hike in place of Pacaya.
What our customers ask about Guatemala Small Group Tours
What is the ideal small group size for touring Guatemala's archaeological sites?
Small group tours in Guatemala typically have 8-12 participants. This size works well for exploring major archaeological sites like Tikal and Yaxha. Properties such as Villa Maya near Flores and Camino Real in Antigua are well-equipped to host these smaller groups. Small group tours range from 80-230 USD daily while larger tours cost 50-150 USD. This price difference reflects added benefits like dedicated guides and flexible itineraries. A day trip to Lake Atitlan and Chichicastenango Market costs about 83 USD with boutique lodging at places like Hotel Atitlan. Large group options often cost 30-40% less. According to TourRadar reviews "the higher cost was worth it for the intimate experience and ability to get to know our fellow travelers while exploring Guatemala's highlights."

Places such as Villa Maya lodge offer special early morning access to nearby ruins. The smaller group size lets travelers dine at family-run restaurants in places like Panajachel and Chichicastenango. Guides often arrange group meals where travelers can try local specialties like pepián and chiles rellenos. TourRadar reviews note that smaller groups can enjoy cooking demonstrations in local homes around Lake Atitlán something larger groups rarely experience.
