- Day 1
Mexico City to Morelia
Head west from Mexico City through the highland regions toward Morelia, a UNESCO World Heritage city that'll be your base for the day. Once there, you'll join a guided walking tour through the colonial center, stopping by the Cathedral and Palacio de Gobierno before reaching Plaza de los Mártires. The Mercado de Dulces is worth a visit for tasting traditional sweets and local treats. After that, you can walk by the Morelia Aqueduct and the ornate Capilla de Guadalupe before settling into your hotel for the evening.

Morelia to Guadalajara
After breakfast, travel to Pátzcuaro, a lakeside pueblo mágico with plenty of character. Spend time at Casa de los Once Patios checking out handmade copper, textiles, and lacquerware from local artisans. The Basílica de Nuestra Señora de la Salud and Plaza Don Vasco de Quiroga are nearby for a walking tour. If you're interested, Rancho Los Tres Potrillos (Vicente Fernández's estate) offers lunch and a western store to browse. Later in the day, head to Guadalajara and check into your hotel there.

Tequila - Tlaquepaque
Begin with a guided tour of Guadalajara's historic center, viewing the Cathedral, Rotonda de los Hombres Ilustres, Teatro Degollado, and Plaza Tapatía. The Hospicio Cabañas is a UNESCO site you won't want to miss. Travel to Tequila (the pueblo mágico) for a distillery tour where you'll learn how tequila gets made from harvest through fermentation and get to taste samples. Back in Guadalajara area, spend the afternoon wandering Tlaquepaque's artisan shops with blown glass, ceramics, and handcrafted pieces, often with live mariachi music playing. Return to Guadalajara by evening.

Guadalajara to San Miguel de Allende
Drive from Guadalajara toward San Miguel de Allende, but stop first in Guanajuato for a cultural break. You'll take a panoramic tour through Guanajuato's colorful hillsides and winding alleys, including the unique underground streets. The Teatro Juárez, University of Guanajuato, and the famous Callejón del Beso are highlights, plus the exterior of Diego Rivera House-Museum. From there, continue to San Miguel de Allende, arriving with enough time to check in and enjoy a calm evening exploring the town at your own pace.

San Miguel de Allende to Querétaro to Mexico City
Walk through San Miguel de Allende's cobblestone streets in the morning, taking in the pastel-colored buildings and colonial architecture. The Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel is striking, and you'll also see the Chapel of the Holy House, Convent of La Concepción, Church of San Francisco, and Casa e Instituto Allende. Free time lets you shop or sit at a local café. In the afternoon, head to Querétaro (another UNESCO site) to see the Aqueduct, Ex-Convent of the Cross, Plaza de la Corregidora, and Teatro de la República before traveling back to Mexico City in the evening.
