the first day of trip is a full day, so i am assuming i would need to arrive the evening before? and that hotel is on my own? the itinerary makes this unclear.

We recommend arriving in Iceland the day before the tour starts so you are well rested and ready for the first full day. Accommodation before the tour is not included, so you would need to arrange your own hotel for the night prior to the start date.

I'm not very adventurous and am afraid of heights, edges, cliffs, etc. Looking at glacier hikes and ice cave, this looks more difficult. Your description was low intensity. I'm physically fine, but have some anxiety that I'll fall or get hurt. Is there a way to discuss with the guide to ensure guide is aware / how will we address?

The activities included in the 6-day tour are designed to be suitable for most travelers with a normal level of fitness, and the glacier hikes are considered easy to moderate. During these activities, you will be accompanied by certified glacier guides, and all necessary safety equipment (such as crampons, helmets, and harnesses when required) will be provided. The guides will also give a full safety briefing and instructions before the activity begins. Once the tour begins, you are very welcome to speak with the guide and let them know about your concerns. They will be happy to explain the activity and ensure you feel comfortable before starting.

What is the price for including the "lunch and dinner" service?

While on the way, we usually stop at locations like gas stations: there are small shops there where you will be able to buy snacks/sandwiches and drinks. At lunch time we will also stop at locations where you will find warm lunch options. For dinner, all hotels have restaurants, so you can choose if you'd like to have dinner there. In Iceland some sort of vegan or vegetarian options are offered almost everywhere, in case needed.

Do you have any tour dates on or around 20th April 2025? How many people are in the small groups? We are wanting to see the Puffins. Is this something that can be done on the tour, or do you have any other suggestions on how we can see them?

Our tours are conducted in mini-buses, typically a 19-seat Benz Sprinter. To ensure a comfortable group experience, we usually have a maximum of 18 to 19 passengers on board. Puffins arrive in Iceland in May and leave in late August. They are usually on cliffs, so when we go for example on the black sand beach clients will be able to see them most likely.

Each person is allowed to bring one suitcase up to 24 inches. You can also bring a small backpack on the bus, and it should fit under the seat or in the upper compartment. Extra luggage must be stored in our office; there is a fee you must purchase in advance. For tours that last 4 days or less, it costs 1750isk. For longer trips (5/6/8 Days), it costs 3000isk for the total duration of the trip.

Great tour around Iceland. Our guide, Thales, was amazing! Very safe driver, took us everywhere listed and even a few extra fun spots. He also gave great suggestions for food at the rest stops and for dinners which were to purchase on our own. Our group of 18 got along very well and helped each other out when needed (there was a group of older ladies that physically needed assistance sometimes), we were all considerate to be on time and this allowed for some of those extra stops…most memorable was to see the puffins in their nesting habitat! We travelled with our older teenage children and they were never bored. Hotels were very nice and clean, it’s European so 2 people to a room. So glad we did a tour instead of trying to rent a car and navigate Iceland on our own!Show more

The trip was always pleasant with a very nice soundtrack, we stayed in pleasant hotels and each day was nicer than the other, with a bunch of great activities and adventures. My mother in law is 75 and she was always treated very nicely and with extreme help and patience, Hinrik (our amazing guide) was extremely caring and gentle all the time taking into consideration her needs and limitations. He made sure we knew a lot of history, facts about the places we were visiting. The trip concentrates a high number of beautiful places that takes your breath away. We did absolutely everything that was planned plus we did some extra stops to visit some extra hidden gems. Iceland is a great country to visit, but with a guide like John is even better. He gave us detailed instructions about how to use the equipment and helping how to adapt it to us very patiently. He also explained different facts about the place that help us learn more. Payment information
- For any tour departing before October 20th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after October 20th, 2026, a minimum payment of 20% is required to confirm your booking with Troll Expeditions. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
- Some departure dates and prices may vary and Troll Expeditions will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
- The following cards are accepted for "Troll Expeditions" tours: Visa, Maestro, Mastercard, American Express or PayPal. TourRadar does NOT charge you an extra fee for using any of these payment methods.
Cancellation Policy
- Your money is safe with TourRadar, as we only pay the tour operator after your tour has departed.
- TourRadar is an authorized Agent of Troll Expeditions. Please familiarize yourself with the Troll Expeditions payment, cancellation and refund conditions.
