I'm concerned that the Nova Casa Hotel has a lot of negative reviews—especially leaking showers, old/not functioning AC, dirty room, etc. Has Bamba Travels addressed this issue with the Hotel to ensure the rooms are not leaky and things are functioning? We are not picky but we expect a decent comfortable, clean room. What reassurance can you give us regarding this concern?

We are aware of past feedback regarding Nova Casa Hotel, and Bamba Travels remains in regular communication with the property to ensure that rooms assigned to our guests meet proper cleanliness and maintenance standards. Additionally, we currently have other passengers who arrived a few days earlier, and so far, no inconveniences or issues have been reported to us regarding their rooms. This gives us further confidence that the hotel is providing an improved experience for our guests.

We are a bit claustrophobic… hoping that the room we will be staying has a decent window…. Willing to pay extra for a good room/accommodation if we have to.

At this moment, we only have one space available for a male shared room.

Is it safe to just use an UBER from the airport to Casa Nova Hotel. When we get to the Hotel do we just check in using our names or do we have to mention Bamba Travel?

Regarding Uber, it is commonly used in Brazil as a transportation option and can take you to the hotel. However, as with any city, we recommend taking general safety precautions. At check-in, you will need to mention your name.

How big is the group?

The number of participants can range from 10 to 60 people, and are divided in groups.

Do you have other dates for the trip? We may arrive Feb 14 or 15, we won't be there Feb 12.

The dates for this tour are scheduled to start on the 12th February. In this case, you could join the tour on the 14 th or 15th, but the price will be the same.

Would we be getting seats at the actual parade?

You will not have tourist seats. You will be watching and mingling with the Brazilians.

Do you pock up at airport? If not, how do I find you after I arrive GIG?

Yes, we can also add a pick-up from the airport for an extra price. Would it be just for you? If you want to organize your own airport transfer we can see you at the accommodation where the group will be staying at.

The tour offered a variety of activities from the outrageous lifestyle of Lapa, the shady but inspiring stories of the Favela, the beach vibes of Rio, the amazing Carnaval. The Hotel accommodation was good; walkable distance to restaurants. We found a place that serves great Açai, and Flan! Some activities though are tiring especially on a hot humid day of February like the walk from the hotel to the Metro, and to the Marina or from the Metro to the Ipanema rock for sunset. The group was wondering how the company could not just have a Van to haul everybody back and forth to locations? We ended up using Uber on our own half the time. The face painting by an “artist” needs time-management. There were more than 20 in our group and the so called “artist” spends 30-45 min on one or two or three people with elaborate colors, talks in-between task, and poses for photos. So of course when he was pressed for time he can only do minimal “painting” on the rests of the group — like he did mine for 5 minutes. Can’t help but feel cheated. I think there should be a time limit for each person so others can be equally accommodated and not rushed. Some activities are too closed in-between that there is hardly any time to rest and eat. Not a deal breaker but just so you can be prepared. Bring/buy an umbrella, a hat, lots of sun block; buy the Fan that makes sound—- you can party with it, and it doubles up as a shade against the harsh sun. The sunset boat tour offered a great view of Rio’s marina/coastline; the blockos are fun but be aware that the crowd can be rowdy and explicit— It was short of an orgy we thought it made Vegas looks like childplay. Over all, we are glad we came and joined on this tour by Bamba Travel. We rate the team leader/tour owner Jorge, as Excellent. Jorge really made efforts to communicate, to greet every one, to assist every one, and even offered assistance post-tour. There were plenty of his Staff all around us, love that there is always someone who will walk with any one of us who decide to go back to the Hotel earlier at night. Jorge, and his Staff were organized, made us feel safe and connected. We would recommend this tour just because of Jeorge :)Show more

Overall, it was great - lovely people of all ages on the tour. We all got on well and it was really fun. Most of the local team, in particular the team leader Jorge, were very attentive, supportive and protective. A couple of the younger members of the team were a little more carefree and kept walking ahead without really looking out to see if everyone was following and/or all right. But on the whole great experience. I thought the day with Christ the Redeemer, Sugar Loaf Mountain, Santa Teresa, Cathedral, Selaron Steps and Sambadrome was a little too rushed, but good fun. The tour to the favela was great and the guide was excellent. Very interesting if a little scary. We bombarded him with questions, and he answered every single one. I wouldn't have been able to do this on my own. So am very grateful to have joined this tour. Fully recommended!Show more
