Itinerary
- Day 1
Reykjavik
You'll get picked up at the airport and head to your hotel to settle in. There's a welcome meeting at 6 pm where you'll meet the group and your leader. If your flight gets in early, the National Museum is worth checking out to get some background on Iceland's history. After the meeting wraps up, you'll have dinner together and try Icelandic food for the first time.

- Day 2
Golden Circle
Start the day at Thingvellir National Park where your leader will explain the historical significance of Iceland's old parliament dating back to AD 930. From there, you'll see the spouting hot springs at Geysir and Strokkur. Next comes Gullfoss, Iceland's largest waterfall. In the afternoon, there's an option to soak in the Secret Lagoon, a natural geothermal pool. Later in the evening, you'll head out to search for the Northern Lights.

- Day 3
Reykjavik - South Coast - Vatnajökull
This morning starts at Seljalandsfoss waterfall, then you'll drive to Reynisfjara Beach to see the dramatic black sands and basalt formations. You'll stop briefly in Vik village before heading through the vast lava fields that came from the 1784 Laki volcanic eruption. Your leader will explain how this eruption shaped Iceland's landscape. By afternoon, you'll reach Vatnajokull National Park to see Europe's largest glacier. Tonight you're staying at Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon with mountain and sea views, and dinner features local Icelandic produce at their restaurant.

- Day 4
Vatnajökull - South Coast - Reykjavik
Begin at Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon where icebergs float on the glacial lake. Your leader will explain how the lagoon formed and its connection to the surrounding glaciers. Next, you'll visit Solheimajokull outlet glacier to see the constantly changing ice landscape up close. Then you'll see Skogafoss waterfall, one of Iceland's largest at 60 metres high and 25 metres wide. After heading back to Reykjavik, the evening is free. You might try the famous lobster soup at the Old Harbour or go for fermented shark with Brennivin (Icelandic Schnapps) if you're feeling adventurous.

Reykjavik - Snaefellsnes Peninsula
After breakfast, you'll explore Reykjavik with your leader, getting a local perspective on the city. You'll learn about the Old Harbour's history and walk through the city centre, visiting Hallgrimskirkja church and the Pearl. Then you're heading to the remote Snaefellsnes Peninsula for the next two nights. Along the way, you'll pass waterfalls Hraunfossar and Barnafossar in Borgarfjordur, then visit Deildartunguhver, Europe's most powerful hot spring. You'll relax in Krauma thermal pools where hot spring water mixes with glacial water. Dinner's at your accommodation, followed by Northern Lights hunting if conditions allow.

Snaefellsnes Peninsula
Today explores the Snaefellsnes Peninsula starting with the charming village of Grundarfjordur and Kirkjufell, one of Iceland's most photographed mountains. You'll travel through Snaefellsjokull National Park where weather permitting, the glacier-capped dormant volcano comes into view. Stop at Djiupalonsandur, a striking black pebble beach surrounded by twisted lava formations. Visit Arnarstapi's coastal village for a walk along bird-filled cliffs, then pass through the picturesque hamlet of Budir. You'll have a home-cooked dinner with a local host at a horse farm in Lusuholl. After returning to your accommodation, if weather permits, you'll search for the Northern Lights again.

Snaefellsnes Peninsula - Reykjavik
You'll drive back to Reykjavik today while your leader shares Norse mythology stories along the way, so keep an eye out for elves and fairies. Spend the afternoon browsing Reykjavik's galleries and museums since the city has an eclectic art and music scene. If you prefer something more active, you can take a ride on an Icelandic horse or go on a whale watching expedition to see killer whales. For another chance at the Northern Lights, you can head out of town later. Ask your leader for details on any of these activities.
