Would recommend our tour to Friends. Friendly staff, tours and transportation were punctual and clean. Hotels were all nice and clean. Enjoyed the variety of locations and activities. Recommend Teva or Keen type sandals for Tortuguero and Samara, closed toe shoes on Arenal hike and good walking shoes for San Jose, Monteverde and when not on activities. I only used simple sandals at resorts. We had some rain and would recommend a jacket long enough to cover shorts so only legs and sandals get wet and also dry cover for daypack. If you go on a boat to see sea life (whales, dolphins, etc.) take drybag or equivalent for what you bring as wind driven waves can splash the boat and you and your gear may get soaked. US dollars worked for tips and small purchases (got US dollars in change back) Food was consistently good on the provided meals and also the ones on our own. The hotels provided breakfast as part of the package. Rooms were all nice, even the smallest room we had was more than adequate. Presentation of food was consistently nice and remember pace and food service is a little slower paced. One big difference is that you most places have you put your toilet paper in the trash can next to the toilet, as their sewer systems are different than the US. Weather even in rain was warm and humidity, especially in Tortuguero and Arenal, slowed the drying process of wet clothes to 2 days unless you had direct sun. Monteverde was as much as 20 degrees F cooler, but we only needed a light jacket or sweater, and long pants could be very light weight if wanted. Confirmed that travel times are slower due to slow average speeds on the roads. Note that our full tour ended up being only the two of us joining other small groups (0-20) for each leg of travel or activity. This was good as we kept meeting new people from different parts of the world.Show more

Payment information
- For any tour departing before April 13th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after April 13th, 2026, a minimum payment of 20% is required to confirm your booking with Destination Services Costa Rica. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
