  FLAVORS OF ITALY & AMALFI COAST Party of 4 (me, wife, 2 grandsons) were scheduled through Wingbuddy on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2026, for a 9:41 a.m. take off from Houston George Bush to Atlanta, then a 5:40 p.m. take off from Atlanta to Venice (arrival Monday, Aug. 3) to begin our Flavors of Italy & Amalfi Coast vacation. On Saturday night, Aug. 1, around 7 pm, we received notification by Delta app that our flight to Atlanta had been cancelled due to crew availability. We instantly reached out to Wingbuddy for help. Called the phone number listed on their website. Their office was closed, so we left a message. Texted the emergency contact number. Also went to the contact page and left a message. Never heard back. Panicking, we called Delta. Agent on the phone said they’d be happy to book us another flight to Atlanta – arrive Tuesday, Aug. 4, then arrive Venice Wednesday, Aug. 5 (pushing our scheduled back 2 days). Never mentioned booking us on another airline. Since we’d already made reservations and paid for side trips in Venice, Florence, Rome and Sorrento, we asked for a Delta supervisor. That person also didn’t offer to book us on another airline – only offered us a refund on our tickets. So we officially canceled our first leg to Atlanta and were told by Delta they would refund us the money for the 4 tickets for our flight to Atlanta in 5 to 7 working days. We then called Southwest Airlines – were able to book a flight to Atlanta in time to make our 5:40 p.m. departure on Delta to Venice as planned. But we now had to take off from Houston Hobby instead of George Bush. Which meant that when flew back to Houston and landed at George Bush per the original itinerary, we’d have to Uber down to Houston Hobby to get our car. Cost us $2,129.60 for 4 tickets on top of what we had paid Wingbuddy for the trip. Made it to Venice as scheduled. Then waited for an hour for the Wingbuddy ride that was supposed to pick us up. Called the emergency number – nothing. Gave up and called an Uber to get us to the Hilton Venice Isola Nuova. When we arrived, discovered our room wouldn’t be ready for 4 hours. So we stored our bags and went exploring. While out, got a call from the contact in Venice and was chewed out that we didn’t wait for our ride at the airport (?) Finally got to our room – the air conditioner wasn’t working, so we were moved to another room. The Hilton was not on the island, so we spent most of our time in Venice on the water buses getting from place to place. The second day, the power went out at the hotel for 4 hours. So we explored more. Left Venice as scheduled on the train and traveled to Florence to the Hotel Griftone Firenza. Hotel was nowhere near any of the sights, but we managed to get around. Saw Michelangelo’s David that afternoon, then the next day went on a winery tour. Left Florence as scheduled by train to Rome and to the Hotel Diana Rome. Hotel was good. On day one saw the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel, that evening took a golf cart tour. The next day saw the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. Were advised by the golf cart tour guide to see the Trevi Fountain at 3 a.m. when it wasn’t crowded. To depart Rome and travel to Sorrento by bus, Wingbuddy’s information said we would be picked up at our hotel lobby at 6:30 a.m. – but didn’t say anything else. Beginning to worry, we texted the Wingbuddy emergency contact. Got a reply and were told their tour operator in Italy (Carrani Tours) hadn’t sent us the information. Were able to contact them and get what we needed. Connected with the Carrani bus on time and arrived in Sorrento to the Hotel Grand Vesuvio. The next day, we took an all-day boat trip from Sorrento around to Positano with several breaks to go ashore and eat/shop. The next day we took the bus to Pompeii and explored with a Carrani guide. Then traveled back and arrived in Rome around 8 p.m., hit a restaurant, then prepared to be picked up at 4 a.m. for our ride to the airport to hit our plane to Paris and then back to George Bush in Houston at 6 a.m. We returned home on Thursday, Aug. 13. As I said before, we arrived at George Bush, then had to take an Uber to Hobby to get the car, then drove all the back to the Woodlands and home. As of Wednesday, Aug. 26, had not been refunded our money from Delta. So we called Delta. We were told that the money we were due to be refunded for our canceled flight to Atlanta had actually been refunded… to Wingbuddy, the merchant of record. Contacted Wingbuddy about the refund – and have been told repeatedly that they don’t owe us a refund for the canceled first flight. Their argument, if I’m understanding it correctly, seems to be that even though our first flight from George Bush to Atlanta was canceled by the airline – and even though we reached out to Wingbuddy by phone, text and on their website for a solution and heard crickets – the fact that we made other arrangements with another airline let them off the hook for any refund.   The hotels are far from attractions, they say 4 star but they mean 3. The tours go even in torrential downpours because they don’t want to refund or change the day of it. You are on your own to find hotels, attractions, train stations and bus stops. Download an E/sims card so u can google where u are and find ur way. You don’t get all breakfasts like they tell you if they are picking u up before breakfast starts to the amalfi coast. And some tours provide no time for lunch. The pit stop from Rome to Sorento and back is very limited for food. Gondola rides are not as long as you pay for, however that was not part of Wingbuddy’s package. Overall I will never book with them again. If u message them about any problem, they will tell you to call the other tour operators they hired to deal with it.Show more

  A couple of weeks before our trip, we received an email changing our hotel accommodations, with no explanation. On arrival at each hotel, we found that 3 out of the 4 hotels were not centrally located so we spent a lot of our time in each city figuring out how to take transit to each hotel and to all the main city sights. We did not travel to Italy to see the suburbs! Our excursions, booked ahead through Viator, were all very good but were centrally located so lengthy transit was always needed. During the Amalfi Coast tour, we heard from others on the same Wingbuddy tour that they had stayed in hotels that were closer to city centres. This made us feel like second class citizens, even though we must have paid the same amount as everyone else for this Italy tour.Show more

  Our departure flights were completely botched and Wingbuddy did not provide the best alternative flights for the customer, instead re-routed our travel to Italy through the US adding an extra flight and decreasing our time in Venice by over 4 hours. A tour rep did not greet us at the airport in Venice and we had to take a taxi to our hotel on our own. All hotels in the package were not in good locations for exploring the cities on our own, and did not meet our expectations of the star rating provided for each hotel. except the hotel in Sorrento (Michelangelo). We would not recommend Wingbuddy based on our experience with your customer service before and during the trip and the overal quality of the hotels/meals included.Show more
