Itinerary
- Day 1
Lanzhou
You'll arrive in Lanzhou and get picked up at the airport for a transfer to your hotel. If your flight comes in early, you've got time to walk around town and get a feel for the place. This is your first stop on the Silk Road journey, so settling in and wandering the streets can help you adjust to the city.

Lanzhou to Zhangye
Start the morning with a city tour covering the Yellow River, Provincial Museum, Waterwheel Park, and Zhongshan Bridge. After you've seen the main sights, grab lunch before heading to the bullet train station. The 4-hour train ride to Zhangye goes pretty quickly, and then it's a transfer to your hotel for the evening.

- Day 3
Danxia
After breakfast, head to Dafo Monastery to check out the impressive sleeping Buddha and the city museum. From there, you'll go to Matisi Monastery to see the Tibetan Buddhist temples and artwork. Later, drive about an hour to Danxia Mountains where the Rainbow mountains show off their incredible red, yellow, white, and black clay layers across the landscape.

- Day 4
Jiayuguan
You'll drive 2 hours to Jiayuguan and spend time exploring the UNESCO-listed military fortress that sits at the edge of the ancient Great Wall. In the afternoon, climb the Overhanging Great Wall section for views of the surrounding area, then walk through the ancient Wei and Jin Tombs before driving back to your hotel.

- Day 5
Dunhuang
Head out early for a 5-hour drive to Dunhuang. The route takes you through some beautiful terrain including the snow-capped Qilian Mountains, Gobi Desert stretches, and small oasis towns. By afternoon, you're checking out Singing Sand Dunes and Crescent Moon Spring, where you can hop on a camel if you want. Later, there's an option to browse the night market or catch a Dunhuang performance based on Mogao Caves art.

Dunhuang
Spend the morning at Mogao Caves exploring the colorful frescoes and statues telling Buddhist stories from the 4th century onwards. This site is central to Silk Road history. After lunch, head to Dunhuang Museum to see artifacts and exhibits ranging from stone age pieces to modern items. If you're interested, the night market is also available for an evening stroll.
