Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Mexico City to Grutas de Tolantongo

    Meet your group at 9 am in Mexico City and then drive out to explore the region's history and culture. You'll stop at a local pulque ranch to see how this traditional drink is made, followed by a walking tour through the archaeological ruins at Tula where you can also experience the market food scene. After that, head to Ixmiquilpan to check out the 16th-century Augustine convent and local museum. By early evening you'll arrive at Grutas de Tolantongo where you can settle in and optionally join the group for a soak in the thermal waters and dinner afterward.

  2. Day 2

    Grutas de Tolantongo to Mineral del Monte

    Start with breakfast and then explore Grutas de Tolantongo's main attractions, including El Tunel and La Cueva. From there, you'll travel through mountainous terrain to the Convent of Santos Reyes in Metztitlán. Next comes a stop in Huasca de Ocampo, one of the state's Magical Towns located in the UNESCO Comarca Minera Geopark, where you can see basaltic prisms and visit historic mining haciendas. The day ends in Mineral del Monte, another Magical Town, with an evening orientation walk and optional dinner so you can try local specialties.

  3. Day 3

    Mineral del Monte to Mexico City

    Begin with a breakfast food experience at the municipal market, then visit a local museum to learn about the history of pastes and try making one yourself. Travel to Pachuca with a photo stop at the impressive Cristo Rey viewpoint, then climb the Monumental Clock and walk through the historic center to sample local dishes at three main markets. You'll also see the historic Hacienda San Antonio Tochatlaco and visit the UNESCO-listed Father Tembleque Aqueduct. The day wraps up with a tour and beer tasting at a famous artisanal brewery in Tizayuca before heading back to Mexico City around 8 pm.

    Dear Benjamin, thanks a lot for your straightforward and sincere feedback. Indeed, due to pandemics and the fact that some places either keep being closed or have limited working hours, several changes to the itinerary were made that were reflected in the trip notes with yellow color. Also, as far as only 2 of your signed up for the trip, in order to not cancel it (and your vacations as well), we decided to still run it but had to use a smaller vehicle, which provoked the above-mentined delay in driving and further limited the activities that were planned for this day. None of these points however relieves us from the responsibility for not being able to meet your expectations, and indeed we are very sorry for the lack of communication from our reservation team that you have experienced. Indeed, those logistical changes that unfortunately happen so often in the post-COVID travel industry, had to be communicated in a more open and explicit manner. best regards, Vibe Adventures' team
