Food & Culinary Tours & Trips in Mexico
Picture eating your way through Mexico's incredibly diverse culinary traditions. Delicious! Take cooking classes and make mole in Oaxaca, learn to make street tacos in Mexico City, and explore markets with locals. Head to Puebla for mole poblano, Yucatan for cochinita pibil and Mayan influences, and Baja for fish tacos and wine. Mexican food is regional, so what you eat in Oaxaca differs completely from Guadalajara or Yucatan. It's travel through taste and history combined.

This was our first time visiting Mexico from Australia, and we weren’t sure what to expect. We had never traveled with a tour company before or used TourRadar or Destination Services Mexico. Overall, it was a positive experience, and we would recommend this tour. This review is written from the perspective of someone whose primary language is English with minimal knowledge of Spanish. One important note: this tour differs from traditional group tours. You don’t stay with the same tour group or guide throughout. Most of the time, it’s like being on a private tour, though occasionally you’ll join a small group for specific day trips (more often private than not). A critique is that when part of a small group, the tour guides often prioritize Spanish-speaking tourists, which can feel awkward for non-Spanish speakers. Mexico City: Our flight was delayed, and we missed our connection, but the driver was very accommodating and picked us up as planned. Felipe and Maria were fantastic guides, providing great insight into Mexico City’s history and culture. Oaxaca: This was the highlight of our trip due to its relaxed atmosphere and rich history. Elvia led an excellent walking tour of the city, offering a deep understanding of its heritage. Mérida: The archeological sites and cenotés here were breathtaking. Gisell’s cooking class and market tour were a standout experience. Gabriel also delivered a great tour of Uxcal. The tour is relatively fast-paced, but there’s flexibility to add extra activities outside the itinerary, like attending a lucha libre event in Mexico City, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Accommodation quality was variable but acceptable given the tour’s price. We upgraded one of our rooms on-site for a small fee, which was worth it. This tour is ideal for those who want a hassle-free experience—everything from entrance tickets to transport is taken care of, which is particularly helpful if you’re concerned about language barriers.

Mexico was amazing. Mexico City, Puebla and Oaxaca were such great places to visit and eat. Huatulco was a bit touristy and cruise ship town for my liking. The food, markets, arts and sightseeing were totally worth it. I would recommend arriving early and staying on after to visit thermal springs or tour bays and waterfalls.

My daughter and I took this trip as her quinceanera present. Our guide was Carlos. This tour was absolutely amazing. We got our itinerary one week before we left. The itinerary included links to all of our hotels and all the information we needed for the trip. The night before Carlos contacted us via WhatsApp. Vibe Adventures contacted us on the day we were traveling. I can’t say enough about Carlos who was an amazing guide. He is extremely passionate about the history of Mexico and is always learning new things. He definitely made our trip one of the best ever. We started off in Mexico City and then traveled to Huatulco through the mountains. My daughter chose foodies tour because she wanted to learn more about the food and enjoy the tastes of Mexico. this tour included to cooking classes. The cooking classes were very informative and fun to be a part of. Tasting what we made was even better. I will also went to many local restaurants to taste different types of foods from the different types of areas. We decided to be daring and tried some of the specialties that are only offered in these parts of Mexico. Carlos was a fantastic driver and he was very helpful when we found out at last minute that we needed to have a Covid test before we boarded our flight back to the United States. Carlos was also very patient with us and always saw things in a positive light. Because of Covid, if something wasn’t available he had an alternative option. However most things were open by this time. The only part that I wished I had known was to have of cash in pesos to pay for things like bathrooms and tips. Because our experience was very authentic, it is important to have pesos and not American dollars for most of the places. Luckily there are banks and ATMs in the bigger cities and you were able to get pesos from those locations. My daughter and I had the best trip ever and it was the best present we could give her to learn about some of her heritage. I would definitely use Vibe adventures again and I would ask for Carlos if he is available. Thank you for a wonderful and authentic experience.
