Itinerary
- Day 1
Dakar to Pink Lake
You'll start early with a drive out to Keur Moussa to catch mass at the Benedictine monastery, where they incorporate traditional African instruments into the service. It's a meaningful way to begin the day. From there, head to Kayar fishing port to see the morning's catch being sorted and distributed, which gives you a real sense of how this community works. The afternoon takes you to Tortoises Village, a botanical garden focused on conservation efforts, so you can walk through and learn about what they're protecting. Then comes the main event: Pink Lake, where the water's so salty you'll float effortlessly. You can swim around and chat with the salt harvesters who work the lake, which is pretty cool. By late afternoon you'll head back to Dakar.
