I loved that the trip was dynamic and informative. The day we completed the climb of Mt Kinabalu we as a group would have appreciated having the hot tubs scheduled into the Late afternoon agenda. I really believe the meals could be improved on.

I liked the tour a lot. Too many buffet meals however and never enough vegetarian choices. Got bitten by bed bugs in the jungle lodge.

This was a great tour full of experiences that I'll never forget. Some of the highlights include: climbing Mt. Kinabalu, watching sea turtles lay eggs and watching hatchlings make their way back to shore, and of course orangutans. The guide was great and full of tons of knowledge. He mentioned that the accommodations would be very basic, but I found them to be quite impressive. Also, the meals are great but also very repetitive. I found myself getting pretty tired of the food by the end. Some improvements I would suggest is that this should not be called a 12-day tour but an 11 at best. The first day and the last day you do absolutely nothing. In fact I wanted to do something on the last day and they were not able to book anything for me, I had also inquired about them several days in advance. The other improvement is that they should possibly provide something to do or transportation for the groups on the mountain climb. I was one of the only ones who read the itinerary and trained for the climb, suffice to say many of the other group members did not do this and went into it with pre-existing medical conditions. Well a couple of us had finished over 6 hours ahead of the others and just sat on a bench waiting. Kind of a waste of a day. The last improvement is that many of the "optional" activities aren't really optional. Some are very over-priced and I didn't want to do but the alternative would be to sit in the hot car for several hours. They should make an alternative for those who do not want to take part in the optional activities. Overall though the tour was amazing. It will be very hard to forget the amazing wildlife I saw on this trip.

I booked Sabah Adventure pretty last minute as I really wanted to climb Kinabalu and this tour featured Kinabalu and other things in the itinerary that were of interest to me. The price was great and all expectations were met according to the itinerary. I thought there was fair amount of time in each place. My highlights were Kinabalu, Jungle stay, Turtle Island and surprise guests wild orangutans (mama and baby) at the cave. I met wonderful people on my trip and our guide was great. Group was mix of USA, UK, AU, NZ ages 20s-40s+.Everyone seemed to get a long fine. This was my first Intrepid trip and I was happy with the organization. I travel solo or with 1 friend and occasionally take a group tour. My only wish was that I was able to take a shower after returning from Kinabalu. Those who finished early sat in disgusting, sweaty clothes until the last person retuned then we drove to Poring Hot Springs. Since we arrived late, we lost time there as they were closed. Overall I give this tour 4 stars and would recommend this trip to a friend.

This trip is Fantastic. We had an amazing guide (Zahari) who was very knowledgable, passionate and became a loved member of the group. The group was also fabulous, a great mix of personalities who all got on and helped each other up (and down) Mt. Kinabalu. The acccommodation is all pretty basic (as defined by the Basix category) but was mostly clean and actually all added to the experience of mixing with the locals. Plus, the itinerary is so packed that it really is only a bed for the night. Highlights... all of it. The first homestay welcomes you to the area and makes you feel a beloved visitor right from the start. The mountain is a challenge but one that we all survived very happily. The jungle stay immerses you in the heart of the land with cheeky monkeys combined with the powerful serenity of nature. Turtle Island is wonderful (particularly if you love turtles as I do!); seeing turtle hatchlings pootle by us on the beach (unscheduled experience!) on their quest to find the sea was beyond exciting. Sepilok is also, despite all the requisite structure and policy, breathtaking. The Orang Utans are pretty mischievous so I suspect most visitors are treated to unscheduled lunchtime/after hours sightings. All in all, I cannot recommend this trip enough. I wouldn't stay in more luxury accommodation as I feel this would detract from the overall experience. The guide made our trip a most wonderful experience and the other on my trip made me feel part of an established gang rather than the single traveller as which I started out! Do this trip now!
