  In general this tour was well organized and all happened according to the iternary as has been presented to us. The accommodation was at Avatar Lodge which was very good. The food was very tasty and more than enough. The staff ,management and guides were friendly and knowlegable. The rooms were comfortable and clean and free of "creepy crawlies" Cold water shower only, which seems to be the norm in Iquitos? The swimming pool was a life saver.Show more

  I had a wonderful time. So many great experiences, swimming in the Amazon, ziplining in the jungle, nature hikes, animal sanctuaries. The hotel grounds are wonderful. And the food is delicious. Staff is super attentive and friendly. Great place if you just want to chill but also lots of optional activities.Show more

  We had an amazing time at the avatar amazon lodge! Our guide Duel was amazing and shared interesting knowledge, we felt very safe. The lodge was cozy and the food delicious (try the lemonade!), the activities were varied and we gained a good overview over the amazon. All the workers did their best to make our stay enjoyable.   First of all the driver picked us up at the wrong time. Then our first tour guide couldn't speak English and the walking tour in Iquitos was just around the Main Square. He couldn't tell us how old the church is or what's the story behind the iron house. In Spanish he was not better or more knowing. The walking tour was more sitting on a bench or standing in the shade. The organisation in the main office was really chaotic, we didn't know who was our real tour guide or what's the name of our 3-day trip. After waiting for a long time they yelled our names and we had to hurry to catch the boat. Boat ride to the lodge was good. The lodge itself was very very basic. It's ok for the jungle but not for the price we paid! No electricity in the room, no clean water in the shower or the sink to wash our hands. Mosquito nets were good and not damaged. The food at the lodge was not our taste, we ate just rice. And everything was cold because it was standing there for a long time. In the afternoon we visited a "zoo" with "rescued" animals in small and dirty cage. All the tourists could held the monkey, parrot, sloth etc. We don't support this kind of zoo. When we decided to cancel our trip one day early (just staying one night instead of two) they told us in spanish/english our english tourguide is coming. He (Luis) arrived in the evening and apologised for the hole day. Together we made a plan what we do and when. After dinner we went to the jungle with the canoe to see some animals (tarantulas, snakes, frogs) and we were lucky! In the morning we did another canoe tour and saw different kinds of birds, monkeys and frogs. After breakfast we went for a walk in the jungle. He taught us some different animal-sounds and explained the flora and fauna of the amazon river. Luis was a really really good guide! Because of him our trip had some good times and experiences. We would NOT recommend this tour for the price of 500$!!Show more

  The itinerary should be clearly given ahead of the tour. I had to continually ask my guide what we would be doing. No information was given without me asking. The accommodation was basic and on the second day I was asked to change rooms. This was not a problem as it transpired that I had been sleeping in a bed with bed bugs. My back, legs, sides were covered in bites. This made the rest of my tour uncomfortable. I had expected a lot more adventure trek but unfortunately had been booked onto a touristic type of trip.Show more
