But the true value of this tour is the wonderful guide and driver AZIZ. This is what makes the difference. AZIZ is incredibly competent, welcoming and funny. He will passionately teach you the essentials of Oman's customs and history. He can solve any difficulty and is always in solution mode to give his guests the best possible experience. From beaches to mountains, wadis to hill top ancient villages, sand dunes to waterfalls. Oman has so much to offer and our guide Aziz made the experience wonderful. He ensured that we were happy throughout our two weeks and encouraged us to try new experiences - way beyond our expectations. We tried lots of local restaurants that we would never have found. We were in Oman when heavy rain flooded lots of areas and we had to cross deep water and negotiate mountain roads covered with rocks - we were never worried as Aziz is an excellent driver. He is a great travel companion - good sense of humour, easy to get on with and flexible according to our needs. We hiked through wadi canyons, camped on the beach, swam to waterfalls rode camels amid sunset dunes of sugar-white sand , and explored ancient villages, experiencing Oman in so many wonderful ways. Trip date: November 2023 - MGMichelle· October 22nd, 2023What a trip. This tour was amazing as Aziz is natural Oman. His knowledge of each area was mind blowing and his passion towards sharing Oman with us was the keystone of this tour. His ability to drive in all terrains and conditions made us feel safe - from long stretches of beaches, rocky terrains, steep slopes and huge sand dunes. The accommodation far exceeded what I had expected and the eateries Aziz took us to provided us with amazing gastronomical experiences and he can cook. The diversity within the itinerary was a good mix of mountains, wadi's, sand dunes, vast stretches of not much, animals, caves and villages and cities. A few points to possibly consider - extend time on Masirah island (2x nights ) and include half day at a beach with picnic and/or fishing trip, swap time around so that the tour visits the animal market on a Friday at Nizwra, add half day Muscat city tour at the end or even exclude it and offer as optional pre/post tour and split the drive up from the sand dunes to Salalah and take a night off at Salalah. Myself and my husband have done a significant amount of tours over the past 30 years of travelling and Aziz just took top spot on best guide - a credit to Gidoman and to tourism in Oman in general.
