Heraklion
You'll arrive in Crete and start exploring Heraklion's old town right away. Walk around Lion Square and grab Greek coffee or bougatsa at one of the local cafes before heading down historic 25th August Street toward the Venetian Harbor. Stop by Koules Fortress to catch some sea views, then settle into your accommodation for the evening.

Knossos
A short bus ride takes you out to Knossos Palace, one of Europe's major archaeological sites. You'll walk through the Throne Room, the Grand Staircase, and check out the Minoan frescoes during about 1 to 1.5 hours there. After heading back to Heraklion, you can visit the Archaeological Museum if the timing works out.

Later, you can visit either the Archaeological Museum or the interactive Natural History Museum, depending on your interests.
