do we get to a train ride from Ella

Yes train ride is part of the itinerar.

I will be attending a yoga retreat starting on the 17th November in Talalla South Gandara. As I would like to be in Gandara on the 16th is it possible to end my tour either in Tissamaharama or Bentota which ever one is closest to Gandara. How difficult is it then to get to Gandara? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am solo traveller so would like to do this tour or anything else you can recommend.

We can absolutely accommodate that. You have two convenient options for drop-off: Tissamaharama, which is closer and would make for a more direct transfer to Gandara (approximately 2.5 to 3 hours by car). Bentota, which is further away (around 3.5 to 4 hours from Gandara), but offers a scenic coastal route. Given your retreat begins on November 17th, we can arrange for your tour to end in Mirissa on the 16th, allowing you a smooth and relaxed transfer to Gandara on the 16th. We'd be happy to assist with arranging the transfer for you as well.

Is it possible to book pre and after hotel, is so do I still get an airport pick up and drop off? What tours are exactly included and what is cost of optional tours and tickets please? Is this the best tour for a solo traveller 50+ lady?

Yes we can arrange pre and post accommodation with airport pick up including. All the activities and entry fees will be per person 260$ including 2 safari tour. The tour is included hotels and breakfast. Entry and activities fees are not included which are as mentioned above. This tour is for anyone age between 20 to 66 years.

I'm interested in the nine days tour, but I have seen a very disappointing review in February 2025, they mentioned that their trip was revised, they were treated unfairly, will it happen again please advise

This tour is a good introduction to Sri Lanka's highlights, packing a thoughtful itinerary into a compact timeframe. Our driver, Pavi, was the standout—exceptionally caring, always ready to assist, and a safe, knowledgeable guide who made the journey seamless. A huge thank you to Pavi for elevating the entire experience! I docked a star due to a few hotels located far from city centers, which limited independent exploring during free time. Some activities and smaller towns felt underwhelming too or like tourist traps. Things like the gem museum are just a sales ploy masked as educational. Though the tours get commissions for pushing us to these 'sales' stops, I still think they should be removed from the tour. Yet, still, this tour is ideal for more 'normal' tourists wanting to tick off main sites efficiently. For full immersion, it's best to do the country on your own... Overall recommendation: Yes, especially if you get Pavi—you'll be in great hands for a broad, hassle-free overview of Sri Lanka! I had a great time on this 8 day tour with Mango Vacations. My guide, Hasanka, was incredibly knowledgeable and could tell us the history and culture of every place that we visited. He is also an excellent Safari spotter, pointing out birds and animals that we would otherwise have missed. And he knew the English names of everything we saw. He has a great sense of timing too, getting us up Sigiriya before the crowds arrived, seeing the temple in Kandy just as the monks started their morning ritual with drums and flutes. I’d recommend Hasanka and Mango.Show more

I liked the itinerary overall and if there was something specific I didn’t want to visit, he had alternative suggestions. I really loved the safaris, my favourite! The trip up to the tea hills was beautiful. Almost all of the hotels chosen were very good. Everything went smoothly. I highly recommend this tour.Show more

We are in the final days of our 18 day holiday in Sri Lanka organised by Mango Vacations. It was a bespoke package with 8 days touring the central and southern part of the island and then 10 days at a beach side hotel. This has been a truly unforgettable experience. From our first contact with Mr Nadeeka, owner of Mango Vacations, we have been impressed with the desire to meet our needs and communications throughout have been excellent. We stayed in 4 star hotels during the first part of the holiday and during the final beach part at the 5 star Occidental Eden Beruwala. All have been excellent with such nice, friendly and helpful staff. The first part included historical visits, two safaris, climbing Lions Rock, a tea factory, 3 1/2 hour train ride and several fascinating temples including the famous Buddhist temple in Kandy. We were blessed to have Vishwa Lakshan as our driver and guide for the first part of the holiday. Vishwa is a true star, he made our first week so enjoyable, interesting and fun. He is an excellent safe driver, his English excellent and his knowledge unmatched. He is even an excellent photographer using our camera much better than us! He seemed to have friends or contacts everywhere we went so knew how to navigate queues, the best currency rates, shops and where to eat etc. He had previously looked after our son’s family last summer who recommended him to us. Indeed they are returning this summer when Vishwa will again be their driver and guide. This was our Golden Wedding Anniversary holiday, thank you Mango Vacations, Mr Nadeeka and Vishwa for making it so special and memorable. A thank you also to the friendly people of Sri Lanka and your beautiful island.Show more

I will be attending a yoga retreat starting on the 17th November in Talalla South Gandara. As I would like to be in Gandara on the 16th is it possible to end my tour either in Tissamaharama or Bentota which ever one is closest to Gandara. How difficult is it then to get to Gandara? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am solo traveller so would like to do this tour or anything else you can recommend.

  We can absolutely accommodate that. You have two convenient options for drop-off: Tissamaharama, which is closer and would make for a more direct transfer to Gandara (approximately 2.5 to 3 hours by car). Bentota, which is further away (around 3.5 to 4 hours from Gandara), but offers a scenic coastal route. Given your retreat begins on November 17th, we can arrange for your tour to end in Mirissa on the 16th, allowing you a smooth and relaxed transfer to Gandara on the 16th. We'd be happy to assist with arranging the transfer for you as well.

Is it possible to book pre and after hotel, is so do I still get an airport pick up and drop off? What tours are exactly included and what is cost of optional tours and tickets please? Is this the best tour for a solo traveller 50+ lady?

  Yes we can arrange pre and post accommodation with airport pick up including. All the activities and entry fees will be per person 260$ including 2 safari tour. The tour is included hotels and breakfast. Entry and activities fees are not included which are as mentioned above. This tour is for anyone age between 20 to 66 years.

  Do you also book flights from Brussels to Colombo for example Dec 2 - Dec 23? If so please send me a price so I know if its cheaper to book through you or from here. What are your suggestions for a pre and after tour stay, in a peaceful place but close to shops? Is it possible to return to Kandy for a few days by public or private transport after the tour and what is the cost for transport and hotel for a single room please?

  We do not book international flights, so we recommend checking with local travel agencies or flight comparison websites. We can arrange private transport from the end of your tour back to Kandy: approx. USD 80–100. Public transport (train or bus) is also possible and more budget-friendly (approx. USD 5–10). Accommodation in Kandy (single room): from USD 50 - 120 per night, depending on the comfort level you prefer.

I'm interested in the nine days tour, but I have seen a very disappointing review in February 2025, they mentioned that their trip was revised, they were treated unfairly, will it happen again please advise

Payment information
- For any tour departing before June 10th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after June 10th, 2026, a minimum payment of 20% is required to confirm your booking with Mango Vacations. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
