All of the accommodations we provide are 3-star hotels certified by the Department of Tourism and selected based on the positive experience and feedbacks from our past clients. We will never keep our guests at cheap and unverified and uncertified hotels & homestays or farm stays. We always inform our guests where they will stay at each destination before their arrival. You can also choose to stay your last night at homestays/farmhouses with the local family for a unique experience. You will have the unique opportunity to spend time with a local family and learn how to prepare some of Bhutan's popular dishes.

    Lorraine

    Asked on May 17th, 2025

Is it possible to get flights from JFK (or any area New York City airport) to Paro and back for a June 9 - June 17th tour? If the tour begins on June 9th, should we book a flight that arrives by June 8th or June 9th? If the tour is completed on June 17th, should we book a flight out of Paro for June 17th or June 18th?

    Flights / Transfers
    • Bhutan Acorn Tours & TravelOperatorWritten May 2025

You must arrive in Bhutan on the tour start date and depart on the tour end date. This is because the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) of US$100 per night per person is charged based on the exact number of nights spent in Bhutan.

    • L

      Lorraine

      TravelerWritten May 2025

Is the day the flight lands in Paro considered Day 1? Do we have at least one night stay in Paro before the tour leaves on Day 2? What if a flight arrives at 2:00 pm on Day 1 but the tour leaves at 11:00 am? Are there any flights available flying into Paro? They book up in advance.

    • Bhutan Acorn Tours & TravelOperatorWritten May 2025

You will not miss any sightseeing even if you arrive at 2 PM or 3 PM because we will adjust the itinerary and make sure that all the activities are covered. There are no direct flights from the USA to Paro. Only 2 airlines connect Paro to gateway cities like Delhi, Kathmandu, Bangkok, Singapore and Dubai. The flights from Singapore and Dubai to Paro are operated only twice weekly.

    • Bhutan Acorn Tours & TravelOperatorWritten January 2025

The Bhutanese currency is known as Ngultrum/Nu. You may bring USD and have it exchanged to local currency at the airport or outside the airport. Our guide can help you get it exchanged. You can also withdraw local currency from ATMs using your credit/debit cards but there will be a fee of Nu.300 for every transaction.

    • Bhutan Acorn Tours & TravelOperatorWritten January 2025

There is no roaming service for Verizon users in Bhutan. If your iPhone is unlocked, you can install tourist SIM card on arrival. You can also install tourist e-SIM card. For a tourist card with a validity of 1 month, 1 GB data and Nu.100 talktime, it will cost Nu.200. Our guide can help to topup more data if you require.

    • Bhutan Acorn Tours & TravelOperatorWritten January 2025

Usually, it takes 4-5 hours for a round-trip hike to Tiger's Nest for most visitors. Some take much longer and some take longer depending on their fitness level.

    • Bhutan Acorn Tours & TravelOperatorWritten January 2025

April is the peak season as so hotels and flights tend to get booked out well in advance. I recommend you check the flight availability and book it online.

    • Bhutan Acorn Tours & TravelOperatorWritten January 2025

The published price for a solo traveler is USD 1,625, with a 20% deposit required at the time of booking. The remaining 80% balance must be paid 60 days prior to the tour start date. The local payment of USD 600 is to be paid in cash upon arrival. This fee is known as the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF), sometimes called as the Government Fee. The fee is USD 100 per night per person, so for the duration of 6 nights, it is USD 600 per person.
