- David· October 12th, 2023Bassoo ,our guide, was thoroughly competent as a mountain leader and indeed could not have been more helpful but was handicapped by the lack of a clear procedure to go off when weather conditions are bad at Lukla airport.. There seemed no good reason why we should have had to pay extra money for porters or the drivers for the journey back (or even for board and lodge costs as the itinerary stated these were free up to day 12). With many other disconsolate hikers we spent too much time waiting around the airport for information or rather lack of it...After all, mist at Lukla airport must hardly be an exceptional occurrence and so the company needs a clear policy to go off for when it occurs. i.e. Tell clients the choices involved such as the amount the helicopter alternative properly costs and how horrible and long the walk and jeep journey can be. Advise them to contact their insurance companies or look at their holiday insurance policies. Kind regards to everyone.It was still a wonderful experience of a lifetime.Show more
