Hi Tamara, I am very sorry to hear this, but some things need some more explanation. When biking in a group it is a safety precaution to ride in a line, or row as you say. It is our policy to ride this way, whether the guide is 70 or 20 yrs old. If you don't want to bike in a group, we would happily have provided the daily itinerary and maps, to bike the way you prefer. It is just that most of our clients do not feel very safe to find their own way. The cork fee is a common policy. We provide good wines at reasonable prices, which is part of our business. I take your comment about the food very serious. We are always proud to serve the best food so your comment is an advice we take very seriously! Anyway, we hope to see you back and give you a better experience. Marius van de Westeringh skipper & owner

How far do we bike each day on bikes and barge tours

    Tour Details
    • Feniks CharterOperatorWritten March 2026

the average daily distance is 40-50 Km, approx. 3-4 hrs., so you have enough time to stop and visit interesting places.
You can rent hybrid bikes or e-bikes.

    Asked on February 6th, 2026

How many cabins do you have in total, and what is the extra price for bike and e-bike rentals? Also, what is the average distance biked per day? Do you offer A/B/C rides or self-paced, or are they all guided?

    • Feniks CharterOperatorWritten February 2026

The barge is equipped with 7 twin cabins, so 14 pax maximum. We offer guided tours. It's not an obligation to follow the guides. But as the traffic in the Netherlands is very dense, it is highly recommended just for your safety. The average distance biked is 40-50 Km, but it can be shortened or extended according the wishes of the bikers group.

Could you please let me know the pricing pp for your 2027 April weeks. Especially 17/4 departure. I believe I will be able to book all 7 cabins. Would you offer a different charter price?

    • Feniks CharterOperatorWritten February 2026

The program of 2027 will most probably be the same as this year. So there will be Tulip tours in April. Regarding discount, that is possible if you charter the whole barge, thus 7 cabins. The price is a different subject, that will not be decided upon until next Summer. There are too many uncertainties this moment, mainly the inflation and taxes.

      Andrew

      TravelerWritten February 2026

I would definitely be interested in the charter price as I want all 7 cabins. I am interested in either 17/4/27 or 24/4/27 start. I understand about waiting to finalize the price for 2027, but I would need to know that in order to reserve. Is there a way to place a tentative hold on one of the weeks with an estimate of cost?

    • Feniks CharterOperatorWritten February 2026

I can only give you an indication of the 2027 price, due to uncertainty about inflation, tax increases and such. It will be around €21.000 (incl. VAT, excl. bike rental) for a group of 14 pax.

    Asked on January 6th, 2026

I read in one of the reviews that everyone needs to ride in a row. Is this true or is it possible to go at our own pace?

    Tour Details
    • Feniks CharterOperatorWritten January 2026

Most of our guests come from abroad and are not used to bike in the busy traffic in the Netherlands. So it is a (strong) advice to stay in a group, it is not an obligation. We can give you a map and itinerary if you want to bike self-guided. Most bikers ride e-bikes nowadays with a speed of 25 Km/h and the so called fat-bikes are very often even much faster. Ordinary hybrid bikes do an average of 15 Km/h, that's a big difference.

    • Feniks CharterOperatorWritten November 2024

You will be sleeping on the barge. Cabins are not very big, but comfy. The dining room is even more cozy. The group is maximum 14 pax, but mostly 12 (there are two bunk bed cabins, very often used by single travelers). The roads are very often dedicated bike roads, if not, they are quiet with very few cars.

Certainly, if you prefer to stay aboard during bad weather or just need a rest day, that is absolutely fine. The spring weather may indeed be a mix of rain and sunshine.
