Thank you so much for this wonderful and heartfelt review ???? We are truly delighted to hear that your journey through Uzbekistan felt like stepping into a magical world. It means a lot to us that you appreciated the organization of the tour and the dedication of our local guides in each city. Sharing not only history but also personal insights is something we always encourage, so it’s great to know this made your experience even more special. It’s also wonderful to hear that you felt safe throughout your travels and experienced the genuine warmth and hospitality of the Uzbek people — something we are very proud of. And of course, we couldn’t agree more about the food! ???? Plov is truly the heart of Uzbek cuisine, and we’re glad you explored other dishes too (the fried eggplant salad is indeed a hidden gem!). Thank you again for your kind words and strong recommendation. It was a pleasure organizing this journey for you, and we hope to welcome you back to Central Asia one day! Asked on March 4th, 2026

What is the difference between the boutique hotels and the 3 star hotels option? Do both have the option to stay in the yurt camp or is that one over the other? If my husband and I were to book separately (so that we can use a promo code from tourradar) would we still be able to book to share a double room?

    Accommodation
    Single supplement
    • Steppe JourneysOperatorWritten March 2026

The difference is mainly the style and character of the hotels, not necessarily the comfort level.

3-Star Hotels: These are comfortable mid-range hotels with standard amenities such as private bathrooms, reception service, and good facilities. They focus on practicality and consistent comfort for travelers.

Boutique Hotels: These are usually smaller, more stylish properties with unique design and a more personal atmosphere. They often have fewer rooms and offer a more intimate and characterful stay reflecting the local culture.

In terms of comfort, both options are good quality — the boutique option is simply more charming and unique in design, while the 3-star hotels are more classic and standardized.

Yes, the yurt camp experience can be included on Day 6, instead of overnight in Khiva you can stay in Yurt at Ayazkala 100 km away from Khivband next day 7 you will drive to Khiva for anxiety tour. As standard Orion it is not included in both accommodation options, so whichever hotel category you choose, the desert/yurt or hotel in Khiva Day 6 will remain part of the itinerary. No additional cost.

Yes, that is absolutely fine. You and your husband may book separately using the TourRadar promo code, and we can still arrange one shared double room for both of you on the tour. Just let us know both booking references after the reservation so we can link them together.

      TravelerWritten March 2026

May I please double check the dates and availibility for each tour? I'm leaning towards the boutique hotel option as you've mentioned that the yurt stay can take place on both options, however it seems one tour leaves on 31st March whereas the other leaves on 1st April. Is this correct or can both tours take place on either date and it's just the hotels that change? Also one tour says partially guided vs the other which says fully guided?

    • Steppe JourneysOperatorWritten March 2026

both departures are effective. Fully guided means one guide from day 1 till day 8 for the group and partially guided means only local guides in each city will do city tours but dont accompany the group.
You can choose any suitable tour for you.

    Asked on February 18th, 2026

I am a solo female traveller, looking to visit Uzbekistan later this year (provisionally in September but there is flexibility in my plans). I was looking at your 8 day trip but I could potentially extend my visit to 10-11 days. Unfortunately I noticed that you are able to personalise trips only for 2 people minimum. Could you please confirm that's the case and there would be no flexibility in your policy.

    • Steppe JourneysOperatorWritten February 2026

We can customize this tour for 1 person if you like. You can join the group for 8 day tour and then you can extend your trip to Ferghana valley for 2 -3 days. 8 Day tour includes tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva. You are welcome to join our group tour in September and then we can extend 2-3 day for you as person trip.

What you suggest could potentially give me "the best of both worlds" - to be part of a group and interact with other people, while having the option to extend my stay and see more of Uzbekistan. In general I would love to have a trip that is not just about ticking the famous landmarks off the list but also about meeting the people of Uzbekistan (maybe by staying with local families?)

    Asked on February 6th, 2026

Just wanted to check if this tour is also okay or suitable for pregnant women?

    Age Range
    • Steppe JourneysOperatorWritten February 2026

Yes, this tour can be suitable for pregnant travellers, especially if the pregnancy is low-risk and in the early or mid stages, as the program is cultural and relaxed in nature. The itinerary focuses on city sightseeing in Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva, with no hiking, altitude exposure, or physically demanding activities.

That said, there are a few important points to keep in mind:

Some sightseeing involves walking on uneven surfaces (old city streets, historical sites).
Travel days include train journeys and short drives between cities.
Summer months can be warm, so pacing and hydration are important.

We always recommend that pregnant travellers:

      Consult their doctor before travel
Inform us of the stage of pregnancy, so we can advise appropriately and, where possible, adjust the pace or arrangements

If you'd like, we'd be happy to review your travel dates and provide specific advice or minor adjustments to ensure maximum comfort.

September is a busy tour season and most nice and famous hotels will be overbooked. If you like to book nice hotels I would recommend booking as early as possible for September month.

Is it possible to start from this date or is it mandatory to start on the 18th? I am a solo traveler and have no issue going for a solo trip but I will be happy to join a group as well. As a female traveler I would like to have a single room at the hotel.
