  The quality of the Splendid tour was good overall (excellent in parts). The hotels in Sorrento and Amalfi were excellent except for some small deficiencies (the bathroom door would not close properly in the Sorrento Vesuvio hotel and the air conditioning in the Amalfi Residence hotel was not great). We particularly appreciated the location of the Amalfi hotel which is right on the water front thereby avoiding climbing steps for my wife who has a bad knee. The quality of the tour guides was generally good except for the Pompeii guide who was lacklustre in his attitude and commitment. He omitted showing us some key areas in the city including the House of Faun and the Brothel. The guide on our boat trip to Capri was very enthusiastic and helpful. The transportation system worked smoothly and was timely. The driver from Naples to Sorrento was excellent and provided a running commentary (with simultaneous google translation from Italian to English on his phone) on the sights as we drove to Sorrento. Overall the tour was enjoyable and well organized but the average $800/day cost (after discount) for a fairly bare bones itinerary appears to be expensive even allowing for the good hotels. Regarding the trip to Cinque Terre, the hotel in Monterosso (Cinque Terre hotel) had very good location but definitely was not 4 star level (the quality of the included breakfast was poor). The 3 day Cinque Terre card worked very well. The hotel in Rome on our way to Naples (Hotel Priam) was more upscale than the hotel on our way back from Naples (Hotel Ariston) although both were clearly in the 3 star or less rating level.Show more

  Our Italy tour was outstanding. The drivers were on time, friendly and polite, the vehicles were comfortable luxury cars or vans, the tour guides were very knowledgeable, accommodating and friendly. The hotels were fabulous and the breakfasts included were out of this world. You made our trip effortless and very special. Thank you to all you made it the best trip we’ve ever had.Show more

  The hotels and meals in Sorrento and Amalfi were delightful. The Gambrinus is somewhat shabby, and our final room would have been austere for a monk. There seem to be some major organizational issues, which is immensely disquieting when one is at a language disadvantage. In each case, although we were where we were assigned to be, we were told to move aside, not on the list, we were wrong etc. in each case we had followed tour instructions TO THE LETTER, but were left behind/misdirected/treated very rudely. We fell in love with the parts of the tour where we could explore on our own, without a timetable! Those times and the fabulous hotels on the Amalfi Coast will be treasured memories.Show more

  The tour seemed very disorganized, with different guides for each leg of the journey as well as for the sites visited. No one seemed to be able to answer questions about the itinerary, each guide saying someone else would explain. We were surprised that most of the other travelers had signed up with a different tour company, so they were joining and leaving the group at various times. At Capri, the guide carelessly left people behind on two different occasions. The hotel at Sorrento was very nice. The Amalfi hotel had amazing views but was a bit tired. Not enough electrical outlets, chipped tiles, letters missing from the signs, dead plants, outdated décor, TERRIBLE wi-fi connection, and nothing to do in the evenings. It was isolated so we had to eat meals there unless we wanted to take the 20-minute (each way) shuttle ride to town. A big disappointment was that we were dropped off at the hotel at 12:30 p.m. on check-in day, but couldn't check in until 2:00 or later. There were two people traveling together who had requested two beds in their room, but they were told there were no rooms available with two beds. When the hotel finally found them a space off in another building, the air conditioning didn't work! The hotel offered to fix them up with fans in their room, which would not have been satisfactory to me. Then the reverse happened upon checkout--we had to be out of our rooms by 11:00 a.m. but the bus wasn't scheduled to pick us up until 3. So we were left to sit around waiting for much of our short stay at Amalfi. One would think that a good tour company could have arranged early or late checkout so their guests would not be inconvenienced. To top it off, the bus apparently forgot us (whose fault? No explanations) and we had to wait around with our luggage in the lobby until 3:45, when hastily-summoned private drivers arrived to transport us. When we finally met up with the rest of the group in Pompeii, the guides were grumpy. On other tours we've done, there is a guide assigned who stays with the group throughout the time period, but on this tour we were dumped in Amalfi for two days and left to fend for ourselves with little guidance. No one to advocate for people who were not given what they were promised. My advice is, go with a different tour operator.Show more

  Good morning Bonnie, We are really sorry to receive this complaint. The tour is a Semi-Escorted and it seems that you were not informed at all about how the tour takes place (not even that in Amalfi there's free time without assistance). Regarding the Hotel Excelsior, on the itinerary there are the hotels we use for this tour, so if you confirmed the tour, this mean you accepted them. You should already know where it's located. On the check-in and check-out speech ... these are group and non-private transfers and therefore we do not guarantee that they you're left at the time of check-in or just check-out. The hotel is available to leave the bags and visit Amalfi. Please find below the reply from our supplier: "No one seemed to be able to answer any questions" Being the tour they have purchased a semi-escorted, it certainly involves many passages with different assistants and guides for each specific area They left Rome with an assistant that deals only with the full day napoli / pompei and that certainly has no information regarding the rest of the tour. After the visit of Pompeii, they are welcomed by our assistants in On the Amalfi coast, who explains them mainly all the schedules for the whole stay and that the following day they will have the exc. of Capri with our guide. On the third day, customers have the transfer from Sorrento to Amalfi with a 2h stop in Positano always with of our assistant, who is almost certainly not the same person who took them to Pompeii who, not being a guide, can only give basic information on Positano and leave thema bit of free time in Positano. After the stop in Positano, they are accompanied by the same assistant to the hotel in Amalfi and before leaving them, she communicates the pick-up for the transfer to Pompeii. The last day, they return again with the full day bus (and then another assistant) to Rome. The fact that customers have had several guides in four days is because they didn't buy tours with a fixed tour leader but, indeed, a semi-escorted. "To top it off, the bus apparently forgot us (whose fault? No explanations) and we had to wait around with our luggage in the until 3:45 am lobby, when hastily-summoned private drivers arrived to transport us" The pick-up from Amalfi to Pompei is usually at 15:00. I was able to check with the assistants why the driver was on on late. Unfortunately that day, in addition to the daily traffic of the coast, the bus that had to carry out the service, broke down along the way and we had to organize a replacement transfer that was certainly not ready on the spot. It took more time to reach the destination.

  I loved everything about this tour. My only wish is that we could have stayed longer! Acampora Travel took care in answering all our questions, and handling our delayed flight, as well as our early departure request. Each of the local guides along the way did a good job...especially Marco who led our excursion to Capri. The accomodations were clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend this trip.Show more

  The locations and itinerary were great and that is what’s most important about the tour. The trips left and returned right on time as described. The tour guides were friendly and informative. The hotels were in great locations with great views but the accommodations were pretty spartan. The meals that were included for lunch and dinner were poor but the breakfast were always good. Overall all I’d say the trip was a good value. It let us enjoy hassle free travel to the sights we hoped to see, without worrying about where we were going and how to get there. I would definitely book with them again.Show more

  You will have a different tour guide everyday but Marco was the best tour guide! He was very informative. Overall the whole tour was great! We hit the main places with the best views. Had enough free time to do whatever we wanted. The one whole day to do whatever you what was excellent and gave us the opportunity to go to Positano or Amalfi or both. Capri was the highlight of the tour! Definitely recommend to anyone!Show more
