I prefer doing this Vietnam and Thailand trip, but i'm not sure about the climate we will have. The other option is Indonesia and Malaysia. What do you think about?

In August, it's rainy season almost areas like the North of Vietnam, Siem Reap and Phuket, but it's good weather for the Central region of Vietnam. However, weather is a factor we can't control, so we can't predict anything in advance about the weather. Although it's rainy season but maybe it can no rain or just short rain during your trip duration. I'm still having some clients making the trip in August. If it's just small rain, our tour still can runs as plan, just somethings like storms, it can affect to some activities and we will consider the situation at that time and do some alternative plan if possible. Otherwise you can consider to do the trip in from Nov to March, normally the weather in this time period will be more comfortable and dry & cooler, the best time for travelling! If you want to travel to Bali Indonesia instead, you can consider our Bali tours. If you want to cut off Cambodia part, do Vietnam and Thailand only, I can do it for you.

How are the flights covered and structured within this tour?

The flights during the trip are included in our package. But the international flights for arrival and departure of this tour are NOT included. You will book it yourself as it'll be more flexible to your availability. And this tour will start in Hanoi, Vietnam and end in Phuket, Thailand. Then you should book the international flights accordingly. The first day and the last day of this tour are your free days for arrival and departure, so you can book your inbound and outbound flights for this tour at anytime on these 2 days as long as they are convenient for you, and I will arrange airport pick-up/drop-off based on your international flights (Please note the check-in time and check-out time of hotels are normally at 14h and 12h pm, respectively)

Can a bilingual English and Spanish guide be arranged for the full duration of a tour covering Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand?

All our tours use local guides and are based on English-speaking guides. If you want a guide who speaks both Spanish and English, the tour will be a private tour, not a group tour. Each destination will have a different guide because we don't have a guide accompanying you from start to finish. The cost of hiring a guide for the entire tour would be very high, as you would have to cover many other expenses such as accommodation, meals, airfare, etc for guide.

Do you have specific dates for the tour in Spanish?

If you want to have a Spanish-speaking guide, you have to pay a surcharge of a Spanish-speaking guide + need to make this trip completely private tour, which will make the price much higher. The present price for 2 people, starting on Nov 7th with 3-star hotels is USD 2,172/person

Is there an option for Koh Samui instead of Phuket? Also, is there a possibility for an Elephant Sanctuary visit?

Yes, I can customize to replace to stay in Koh Samui at the end of the trip instead of Phuket for you. Yes, you can visit Elephant Sanctuary, it has both in Phuket and Samui.

Could I please have someone calling me regarding this deal. I would like to know if that's the total cost per person and what do you mean by local payment when it says the price includes accommodation?

The Local Payment of USD 700/person cover the flights during the trip (except for international flights for arrival and departure of this trip), the English-speaking guide fee, and some other local fees for a wholesome experience. You can pay Local Payment anytime till your arrival day by cash (new USD bills), OR credit card payment link (with transfer fee). We just separate the price into Upfront Payment and Local payment to help our clients be more flexible to plan their payment for the trip.

If I brought a certain number of people could I get my tour complementary?

We can't make sure whether you will get the complementary or not. Depending on how big a group we can check the discount rate to offer for you, and you will share the room or stay in a single room or not. You can use your trip cost to divide equally for each member and let them know the cost, including that fee. During this tour, based on English-speaking guides, you will join the group tours in Vietnam (group size may be 12-16 people). The group tour is NOT that you share with the same group from the beginning to the end. This was a bespoke 16 day tour of Vietnam and Cambodia. Husband (H) and I returned from a 16-day trip to Vietnam and Siem Reap in Cambodia on April 11, and 2+ months later I still can’t stop thinking about it. Through Rough Guides, we were put in touch with Ivy at Realistic Asia, and she worked with H to shape a tour that spoke to our interests - people, culture, museums, food…and the country. To be honest, I let the two them do most of planning, as H was much more interested in going than I was. That changed the movement we arrived. I fell in love and over and over during our trip, and felt so grateful to be there. It was our first “bespoke” tour, where we designed it to include all and only what we wanted to see and where we wanted to go, but in very broad strokes. Ivy was the master painter who filled in the itinerary with rich colors, layers, and textures that we would never have known or experienced without her. Our guides and drivers, different in each city, were amazing cultural arbiters. Funny, articulate, knowledgeable, but most of all, kind and really striving to make our stay in their city meaningful and memorable. Special shoutouts to Mai and Mike in Hanoi, Dat in Hue and the two Khai’s in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) (one was our guide, the other Khai took us on the food tour). Highlights in Hanoi: the not-to-be-missed Water puppet show and the world-class Ethnology Museum. A dream-like cruise on Ha Long /Lan Ha Bay. Hue: Dinner at the Ngoc Son Residency with an fascinating musicologist and a gourmet food-as-art meal prepared by her mother. I left feeling I must approach cooking in a more elevated way! Hoi An - a full moon Lantern Festival and the thrilling and soul-filling Ter Dah performance (closest comparison - Cirque de Soleil a la Vietnam), Saigon - Crazy wonderful Vespa motorcycle food tour, city tour with the skyline filled with entrancing light shows, then a visit to the Mekong Delta. Traveling through the countryside and on the Mekong river, visiting a Coconut processing factory ~ fascinating. In Cambodia we visited Angkor Wat temple complex. marveling at the beauty and complexity of the construction and stone friezes, and attended a gorgeous dinner where Aspara Dance was featured. The costumes alone were show-stopping, and the dancing was a study in slow-motion gracefulness. All the hotels that we stayed at (Ivy offered a choice of three in each city) were wonderful, but we lost our hearts to the magnificent Indochine Palace in Hue and Jaya House River Park in Siem Reap. Jaya House, especially, was out of a dream. The people, rooms, food, service, beauty of the grounds with lotus and amazing artwork around every corner, and the quirkiness of the hotel due to the vision of the owner…well, we’re convinced we’ll never stay at a better place. Food throughout the trip was as beautiful as it was fresh and delicious. We were treated to one feast after another! We felt safe and comfortable everywhere we went. Traffic was sometimes crazy, but drivers and not aggressive. There’s a definite flow. But what touched our hearts the most was the generosity and kindness of the people we met. Ivy was always responsive, and really came to our aid when H had an accident and landed in the Hue International Hospital emergency room with a cracked rib. She held our hand over WhatsApp and the phone, and our city guide, Dat, upon being messaged to cancel the day’s tour, showed up at the hospital to help, interpret, and smooth things over during a very difficult time. He definitely achieved guardian angel status along with Ivy. Our trip was an extraordinary experience in every way, and we are already plotting our return in early 2028. If it were closer, we would go back sooner! We can’t recommend Rough Guides/ Realistic Asia and Ivy highly enough. Our deepest thanks for the amazing care and support at every step of our journey. Kept us upto date and answered all queries very promptly from booking to arriving home, was allocated Chris to look after us during the trip via WhatsApp regularly in contact confirming pick up times for trips and airport pick ups, all picks up went smoothly, all the staff in the hotels we met on the whole where lovely friendly and the hotels where of a good standard, we enjoyed all the trips but in siem reap only there two days and both days where temples, too many temples, even the first trip by the end of the day we had seen enough, most of the temples where the same style, so one day of temples was more than enough. Since this was our first trip to these countries, I wasn’t quite sure about doing a land tour and flying to several countries. However, from the beginning, our travel coordinator, Chris Thang, treated us with professional and personal attention. He communicated in a timely manner and always gave us helpful tips on how to get ready for our trip. I was surprised that he even met us on our first day at the hotel. We felt that his personal attention and just warm personality made us feel welcome and comfortable. He checked in with us daily to ensure that we enjoyed our tours, and reminded us of what to expect the next day in regards to pick up time and airline flights. In countries where the language was VERY foreign to me this was helpful. Personal comment: Much of this trip is with private guides and drivers. Was not aware of the extent of that when I signed up. I prefer doing this Vietnam and Thailand trip, but i'm not sure about the climate we will have. The other option is Indonesia and Malaysia. What do you think about?

  In August, it's rainy season almost areas like the North of Vietnam, Siem Reap and Phuket, but it's good weather for the Central region of Vietnam. However, weather is a factor we can't control, so we can't predict anything in advance about the weather. Although it's rainy season but maybe it can no rain or just short rain during your trip duration. I'm still having some clients making the trip in August. If it's just small rain, our tour still can runs as plan, just somethings like storms, it can affect to some activities and we will consider the situation at that time and do some alternative plan if possible. Otherwise you can consider to do the trip in from Nov to March, normally the weather in this time period will be more comfortable and dry & cooler, the best time for travelling! If you want to travel to Bali Indonesia instead, you can consider our Bali tours. If you want to cut off Cambodia part, do Vietnam and Thailand only, I can do it for you.

  if we choose Vietnam and Thailand, would we still have suitable temperatures and conditions to enjoy beaches and outdoor activities? Are the rains usually short tropical showers, or could they seriously affect several days of the itinerary? Also, would you recommend avoiding some beach areas such as Phuket/Krabi in August and choosing better-weather areas like Central Vietnam or Koh Samui instead? Our other option is Indonesia and Malaysia. From what we have read, Bali and some parts of Malaysia may have better weather in August, especially for beaches. In your opinion, considering our dates and the fact that we want a mix of culture, activities and some beach time, would Indonesia/Malaysia be a safer choice weather-wise than Vietnam/Thailand?

  About the weather, as I shared with you in my previous message. We can't predict it in advance. Although it's raining season, but it doesn't mean it rains all days or all months. It still has sunny in some days, normally it will has a short rains and some short rains per day. Sometimes it will rain all days or even it can last some days. If just a normal rain, our tours still run as plan, just some cases like storm, it can affect to some tours like Halong cruise trip, it can't run if any storm for the safety of travelers. Honestly if it rains, it will be definitely not comfortable for you to enjoy outdoor activities like no rain. For the beach, yes you can consider beach in Vietnam in central region. Normally the raining season in Central region will be from September to December, so it's still good to enjoy and relax in August, kindly consider it. About Bali (Indonesia)/Malaysia, yes it's safer option to travel in August as it's dry season, so normally it will be crowded and services cost there in this time period will be higher. But as I said, we can't give any exact prediction about the weather, it still can have rain in dry season, just lower rate of rain in this time

The first day and the last day of this tour are your free days for arrival and departure, so you can book your inbound and outbound flights for this tour at anytime on these 2 days as long as they are convenient for you, and I will arrange airport pick-up/drop-off based on your international flights (Please note the check-in time and check-out time of hotels are normally at 14h and 12h pm, respectively)
