Itinerary
- Day 1
Kigali
Your guide will meet you when you arrive and get you checked in at the hotel. Then you'll head out on a city tour of Kigali to learn about Rwanda's history from pre-colonial times through independence, the genocide era, and into today. You'll visit several historical sites around Kigali and the surrounding areas to understand how the city has developed and changed over time.

- Day 2
Kigali to Akagera National Park
You'll transfer to Akagera National Park and in the afternoon take a boat ride on Lake Ihema where you can see crocodiles, hippos, and water birds. If you prefer, you can do an early morning game drive instead and save the boating for the next day. You'll spend the night at Akagera Game Lodge.

Akagera National Park to Kigali or Musanze
Early morning brings a game drive through Akagera National Park where you might spot over 12 antelope species, more than 525 bird types including the rare shoebill stork, and if you're lucky, the Big Five (lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo, elephant). In the afternoon you can explore the pastoralist heritage experience. After this you'll either head back to Kigali for the night or drive to Musanze if you want to start gorilla trekking early the next morning.

Landmarks Akagera National Park - Day 4
Gorilla Trekking and Village Walk
You'll leave at 5:30 am for mountain gorilla trekking to see one of the remaining gorilla families in their natural habitat. After midday, you can explore Buhanga forest where Rwandan kings were historically initiated, or visit the twin lakes Ruhondo and Burera. Later in the afternoon there's a village walk where you'll meet local people and learn how they live. Your guide will pick you up from your hotel and lead this full experience. Overnight at your hotel.

- Day 5
Musanze to Kigali Airport
You'll visit Kinigi cultural village in Musanze to see traditional Batwa dancing and songs, and you can join in banana and sorghum beer production activities. After that you'll drive back to Kigali, say goodbye, and head to the airport for your departure.
