I am interested in the Komodo Island Hopper tour but wanted to know if it included any whale sharks or manta ray swimming?

Manta Rays: We do have an included snorkelling activity during the liveaboard portion of the tour where there is a real chance of seeing Manta Rays! However, because they are wild animals in their natural habitat, we can't 100% guarantee a sighting. It ultimately comes down to being in the right place at the right time and having a bit of travel luck on our side. Whale Sharks: This is not included in our itinerary. While there is whale shark swimming available in Sumbawa, it is located a significant distance away from our route, meaning you would have to leave the tour completely to get there. Additionally, as a brand, we are highly committed to animal welfare. The local operations there feed the whale sharks to lure them to the boats, which goes against our ethical travel standards, so it's not an activity we support or offer. We focus heavily on authentic, ethical wildlife encounters, and the snorkelling on this trip is truly world-class.

Can you do a private tour for 6? Age from 26 to 64. Ideally would like to do in January 2026.

Unfortunately we don't run our Komodo Island Hopping tour in January. As it's the middle of their wet season at this point in time, the waters are always far too choppy to facilitate running a tour of this nature. Therefore, the next earliest departure we have for this will be in the spring.

Can you kindly confirm booking details for tour?

We have a minimum age of 18 on our tours, and a maximum age of 45.

Unfortunately we have a maximum age limit on our tours of 45 years old so this would not be suitable for you

We do offer 'my own room' service for this tour at an additional cost. This is an extra 620 GBP.

how flexible are the departure dates for the komodo island hopper tour? do you have any recommended travel insurance?

The Komodo Island Hopper 19th April departure ends on the 27th April, however we arrive at the final destination of Labuan Bajo on day 8 of the tour which will be the 26th April. The boat does not arrive in Labuan Bajo until 3pm that day so you would not be able to make your 2pm flight.

Is it possible to do a private tour? I am outside of the age range. If so, what is the cost?

Unfortunately this is not something we can facilitate for one person.

What airlines are recommended from Bali to Lombok?

I have flown with Lion Air and they were good. Alternatively, ferries are frequent and might be a cheaper option.

My 5th tour with tru travels! After doing Bali experience last year I knew I wanted to come back and see more of Indonesia. I have spent the last 12 weeks travelling south east Asia, joining many tru travels tours along the way. This was my final tour and it was great. I really enjoyed the time on Lombok, and highlights for me would be padar island at sunrise, swimming with giant manta rays and seeing the Komodo dragons. It would have been nice to see a bit more of sumbowa… and didn’t really see the point in stopping on satonda island, but that maybe is again a personal opinion. I also didn’t enjoy the boat trip the first night was extremely rocky and I suffer with sea sickness, I also felt there was a lot of time spent travelling on the boat and not a huge amount of time actually spent seeing the islands. It would have maybe been nice to spend more time on them then at sea. Oner and monk were great tour guides always ensuring everyone was ok and having a good time. Always checking if people needed help. It wouldn’t have been the same without them :) Show more

Perfect way to finish my 3 months of travelling. This tour has a great combination of hiking, swimming and chilling just what I was looking for. Monk and Oner work as the perfect duo. They would have the whole group laughing all the time. Monk clearly has a lot of experience in travel and tourism and Oner has got a lot of passion for his new career path. With time, I believe Oner will become more confident within his himself and his abilities. He is such a character and will be a fantastic tour guide. He was always keen to get involved in every activity which led him to be a master at uno! I’d like to thank them both for a fantastic tour and leaving me with everlasting memories. Waterfalls, Komodo dragons, sunrise hikes and so much more. My only improvement would be some of the accommodation was very basic and there was no ‘stand-out’ hotel which normally on yours you have at some point.Show more

The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 65 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
