Huge thanks to our guide, Orty! He had a great way of engaging with the us, making the history fun with stories and fun facts, not just dates. He was patient and kept the energy perfect for our mixed group.
The van was a major plus. Plenty of room for our stuff and the large windows made sightseeing easy. The ride was so comfortable that even after a full day, no one was cranky. The safe and friendly driver added to the relaxed atmosphere.
It felt like a day out with a knowledgeable friend in their very comfortable vehicle.

For the trip itself, it truly did not expect to have as much fun as I have. Yes the itinerary was incredible, but the experience was made by the people that I met. Struggling to think of a time that I encountered such a sunny personality. Dom is just pure vibes, a good laugh, and a dimpled grin, all wrapped up in a dodgy thrifted kimono. What a guy! He goes with the flow, chats to bartenders like local mates, and dances a fair game. Cannot fault his energy, enthusiasm or efficiency. 11/10 : )

This has been an absolutely stellar week! The Aegiotissa II was a beautiful and comfortable ship with a lovely crew, making the experience feel incredibly unique. The Aegiotissa II was a beautiful and comfortable ship with a lovely crew, making the experience feel incredibly unique. Dom was a first-rate guide - friendly, hard-working and passionate about making the trip as good as possible. The itinerary was a perfect blend of relaxation, adventure and partying. The decadent ship lunches and restaurant choices were all delicious. Dom’s tour of the Antipaxos bay and the subsequent Big Night was a particular highlight - barbecue, karaoke and games under the starlight. I couldn’t be happier and I’ll always hold this experience fondly.

He always made an effort to explain the historical / cultural aspects of all the different islands and kept us very up to date with any of the changes that may have occurred to our itinerary. Every single place we went to was great and it was so clear that he had thought about every restaurant and bar that we had gone to and it was very obvious that we wouldn’t have had as good of a time if he wasn’t guiding us through the tour (because he knew all of the good spots ;) ). Dom and the crew have made this experience one of the best of my life and my only complaint would be that I can’t spend another week on the boat! Kudos to Dom!!

I went on the Bali 10 day Tru travels tour on the 7th September with Dom as my guide. I did not feel comfortable filling in a feedback form at the time in front the tour leader. I think this is an unr…I went on the Bali 10 day Tru travels tour on the 7th September with Dom as my guide. I did not feel comfortable filling in a feedback form at the time in front the tour leader. I think this is an unreliable form of feedback and unfair as it puts you in an uncomfortable situation.
I have previously done the northern Thailand and beaches tour last year and had a good time hence me booking a second trip with Tru travels. I felt the trip was worth the money and activity packed.
However this was not the case with the Bali tour. I felt there was a lot of free time which was not really portrayed in the itinerary. When being given the tickets from the activities we did do most of the activities cost around 2-4 pound and I do not feel it was value for money. The hotels we stayed in were okay but as accommodation is cheap in Bali I again don’t feel like this is value for money.
I felt that things within the tour weren’t properly thought out around eating etc. For example we went surfing on a morning and got back to canguu around half 2 were we were told to get some dinner (we were hungry as we had been surfing and it was past lunch time) so we ate lunch around half 3 by the time we got our food and found a suitable restaurant. Then we were told we needed to meet at 7 for dinner. Obviously by this point we are not hungry because we’ve not long ate our lunch. This happened multiple times and I feel it was not incorporated into the schedule. The tour leader was not happy when the group informed him we were not hungry and would rather cancel the reservations so the whole group went despite not being hungry.
The choices of restaurants were less than desirable. Many were expensive in comparison to other places and at best average.
Although I enjoyed the drinking aspect of the tour I feel like again that wasn’t really highlighted in the itinerary and feel like people need to be made aware for budgeting as alcohol is equally as expensive as in England in Bali and this really ups the amount of money you will spend.
In canguu despite there being restaurants and bars near to the hotel we always seemed to be travelling to venues and paying for taxis to get their. We went to the same bars in each night out which was a bit samey which I believe there will be more options in canguu as I believe it is a party place.
Although Dom seems like a nice lad at only 21 I don’t believe that he is old enough to necessarily be running tours. I was told the other tour leaders and managers of the Bali tour are around 22 again I feel like this is not old enough. It reflected on the tours due to the lack of thought about basic things such as food.
Unfortunately the group was separated into two groups. One group had young girls that the lads wanted to sleep with Dom included. This was made obvious throughout the tour and Dom spent his time with them and the rest of the group were side tracked. It felt like Dom didn’t want to engage with us and it was more of a chore.
Although I have been informed these thing do happen on tour I believed the Tru travels policy was that tour leaders did not sleep with members of the group. This definitely went on whilst on the tour we were informed from other people. Towards the end of the tour it was blatantly obvious and no longer being kept a secret.
On the last day there is a bike tour of Gili t which is on the itinerary. Some of the members wanted to play mini golf instead and Dom said we would need to have a vote of which we wanted to do but I thought that if it was on the tour we would definitely have the choice to do it as this is what we’ve paid for. Fortunately the majority of the group did want to do the group tour so this went ahead.
I am concerned by the fact that the tour leaders are not first aid trained. I am aware that we are all adults responsible for ourselves however whilst on a tour I would expect the tour guides to have a basic level of first aid training.
I feel like the Bali tour needs improvement and in comparison to the Thailand tour the professionalism is definitely lacking.
It is unfortunate the tour was so poorly ran considering the amount of things there is to do there. It felt more like an 18-30s holiday than a tour of Bali.

The crew on the boat were lovely and living on there was a highlight- especially as we got to see places that barely any people get to visit. There was a good mix of time to relax and do things. Dom was attentive and fun and overall the trip was something I'll always remember.

The live aboard boat was certainly different but I think thanks to my group and tour guide Dom, it made it very bearable. Our guide Dom was very friendly and welcoming as well as really useful and helpful.

This happiness and attitude was contagious even in tough situations. I think the tour guide has a huge impact on the happiness of a group. If Dom was running another tour I would want to do it again. Dom really carried the weight of the program and if he wasn’t tour guide the trip may of been very different. He is one of the reasons the tour went so well and I loved it.

really enjoyed seeing the more rural locations in Indonesia. Enjoyed traveling around Moyo on bikes, trekking to waterfalls and viewpoints. As trip progressed I felt Dom and Darrin ensured trip was fun, especially Darrin keeping those spirits high and his great photography. The group I met on tour really made it great.

really good trip, seeing places and sights that are unspoiled and little tourists have visited. Absolutely loved Moyo, it was very fun and I enjoyed seeing the manta Rays and Komodo dragons. Something I’ve never done before!! We were fortunate enough to see wild dolphins and swim with manta rays which was unforgettable. The experience I had was made by the incredible girls I was with. The group leaders were fun and after getting to know them were friendly, chatty and really good banter. I loved doing this tour and made fantastic friends and memories which will last a lifetime ( plus the pictures to prove it )

I thought the live aboard was a fun and new experience as well as allowing us to visit lots of different islands. Dom has been a great tour guide - he’s been fun, informative, and professional at all times. He’s excellent at his job and does well to ensure all participants felt included, are okay and needs are met!
My favourite parts of the trip were the Lombok waterfall and padar viewpoint trek. I’ve felt like I’m in paradise and it’s so nice to have everything sorted so you can really enjoy your trip!

Specifically the last two hotels felt 5 star, the food fantastic and people even better.
I couldn’t fault the tour, I’ve seen some life changing experiences and will never forget Bali or our Tru Tour, thank you all.

I even enjoyed when we had free time as Dom gave great information on our surroundings. Throughout the trip I felt completely safe and happy, this is due to the amazing planning and how trip was run.
Day after day this trip exceeded all my expectations from the accommodation to the stunning locations. I can’t thank Dom enough for everything he did for us throughout the trip. He was constantly ensuring everyone was happy and safe from early hours into the morning, making sure everyone gets home safe. Dom was the best group leader , making sure everyone knew the plan and keeping a happy positive energy which in turn spread throughout the group.

All the activities were planned well and I thoroughly enjoyed them. The itinerary is good as as you get optional activities so you can pick and choose what you do with your free time. The only day that was bit too much was the mt.Batur trek and rice terraces, maybe could swap monkey forest with rice terraces.
Overall I think the tour was better than expected. Dom was fantastic throughout the whole 18 days and I’ll be definitely recommending Tru travels and Dom to others.

Dom was a brilliant group leader and was very helpful even when we asked stupid questions he had probably answered 10 times already. He was always organised and made things fun, especially with such a big group, which must be hard.
On the boat I felt very seasick and Dom helped me find somewhere more comfortable to sleep and got me water and medicine. Thank you :)

All the accommodation and transport was clean and comfortable (fave place was MaxOne in Ubud) plus everything ran smoothly taking the stress out of travelling.
Nights out organised by Dom were all amazing, and always making sure everyone gets home ok!

Spicy he is one of the kindest people I have ever met, he made such an effort to get to know everyone on the tour and also allowed us to get to know him which makes him seem more like a friend and a leader. Tom was full of energy every day always so informative to the group, singing to us and making everyone laugh, showed a lot of interest into the group not just in the day but when going out and will stay with us in the day but also the night to which I think is a good thing of a guide. If someone can do something that it was always willing to accommodate to their needs without hesitation for example I lost my bankcard he rode on his bike to the ATM, I couldn’t ride a bike by myself so he got a tandem to help me so I don’t have to walk.Even though Eman Was an intern, He didn’t seem like it at all, made us laugh so much and put effort to get to know us. My experience was amazing - amazing place, people, tour guide and activities. Despite the earthquake changing the itinerary. Shout out to Dom, such a laugh, Organised, knew all the best places that accommodated everyone - definitely recommend a pay rise! I felt very safe throughout the trip with the dinners and places we went to, making me feel very welcome- something that is important to a solo traveller. I love Bali, I love tru travels. Thank you Dom for such an amazing experience.

Dom was well versed making it engaging and interesting tour. The accommodation was very good, koa and max one were very good with great facilities however the last hotel although temporary was not as good!

Dom went above and beyond to extend our experiences and activities beyond the itinerary. We went snorkelling to see reef and all kinds of fish and given chance to snorkel with the dolphins. Seeing the flips and tricks was one of the best parts of the trips and surfing was incredible to have one on one teaching, really felt like I got it. Having such amazing local guides was one of my favourite parts, learning the unique culture and traditions. Such friendly, funny people really made the experience and the memories unforgettable.

I particularly loved the surf lesson, the temples (especially with the local guides and their knowledge), dolphin watching and waterfalls! As a group leader Dom has been fantastic, keeping everyone in the group involved and happy as well as being informative about the places we visited and the culture. It has been an amazing experience!

The accommodation and itenerary was perfect and suited my needs. Dom made all activities plus experience 100%. Dom was superb and took all of our needs and requests into consideration. It was a small group which was fantastic and we all enjoyed each other’s company. If it wasn’t for Dom, I don’t think I would have enjoyed the trip as much as I did. Thank you Dom- big up, much respect. I would highly recommend Dom as a tour guide to all who book this tour!!

Although we were a small group this has meant the tour has been more personalised. I feel I have learnt a lot about Balinese culture which is thanks to the local guides we had and all the knowledge Dom had about the area. Private transport for our group was really good and made journeys comfortable. Lovina was my favourite place on the trip so despite us not being able to go to Gili Islands, lovina was a brilliant replacement. All the activities were fun with my favourites being surfing, rice terraces and dolphin watching. Dom was a fabulous tour guide and made our trip.

Itinerary was a nice balance of chilling/activities and all accomodation was lovely - especially canggu and Lovina. I think meeting the locals (Wayan and family plus Bob) was big part of tour; their information and knowledge really added to the days out. Dom was fabulous, hope to see him again soon

The tour was really well organised and we had lots of fun with the group. One of my favourite days was the Mount Batur sunrise volcano trek with rice terraces and monkey forest. It was made even better by having our amazing tour guide Dom. Dom joined us half way through the tour as we had to have a change of tour guides. He has such a chilled out nature and a great sense of humour, making it really easy to get on with him and have a laugh and making him perfect for the job. He’s respectful of everybody and their needs and really goes the extra distance to make sure everyone is happy. What I loved most about having Dom on our tour is his love for life and for partying. Every time we went out, Dom stuck with the group and ensured we were all having a good time. I’m so happy we had him with us as he really did make the tour and felt like one of us. Thanks Dom - you’re a true gem - Georgina x

Amazing trip, tour guide Dom was sensational, did a very good job at showing us all the landmarks and being an all round good host.
Unfortunately the group we were in became incredibly divided, even awkward, and no effort was made to change that.
Our guide was more interested in drinking and sleeping with girls.

Canggu in particular the places chosen to eat and drink were an hour or so away, which we had to pay taxis for, and were not given the option of going somewhere nearer the hotel.
We were initially meant to have Elias as our tour guide, however he turned up a bit worse for wear and he was reported due to dom’s embarrassment and as a result, was no longer part of our tour. Dom stated how unprofessional he was, however I find this very hypocritical given he ended up sleeping with one of the girls in the tour. I feel the tour was treated more like an 18-30 holiday in magaluf, which nobody would have batted an eye at his behaviour
We had a lot of free time, which is not really mentioned in the itinerary. We were not given ideas of things to do, he did not have any knowledge of the areas were in. Particularly when we went out after dinner and the only options given afterwards were ‘are you staying out with him or going back to the hotel’
I understand these tour guides will have people they get on better with than others, however I do not expect to pay the same amount of money as his ‘friends’ and to be ignored for days on end.
I also think having to complete a feedback form the day BEFORE the tour has ended isn’t right and being asked to put a good word in as he’d like a promotion. First of all, people will not be honest, which is reflected in the reviews online given I couldn’t find one less than 4 stars. And secondly they were not anonymous.
Whilst there were parts I enjoyed, I felt the activities were very rushed. This was meant to be a trip of a lifetime and I was sadly very underwhelmed.
The tour gave us an opportunity to experience things we would never had gotten to see traveling on our own. It was great to meet new people and have adventures together.
