What's the typical length of tours starting in Dubrovnik?

Most Dubrovnik tours range from 3 to 9 days with 8-day sailing and island-hopping adventures being the most common choice. The well-traveled route between Dubrovnik and Split takes visitors through key islands including Mljet Korčula and Hvar. The "Dubrovnik to Split Premium Cruise" by Kompas showcases this classic 8-day format beginning with Old Town exploration before setting sail. As one TourRadar traveler noted: "This tour was the perfect length to see all the highlights while still having time to relax and enjoy each stop."

What accommodation options are available for the first night in Dubrovnik?

Dubrovnik's lodging spans from high-end hotels to smaller family-run properties. The 5-star Hotel More stands out in Babin Kuk while Hotel Lero offers 4-star comfort near Old Town and Hotel Astarea provides 3-star value in Mlini. Sailing tour participants stay in well-appointed cabins aboard vessels like the M/S Desire or MS My Way. As noted by a TourRadar traveler: "Our first night at Hotel Lero was excellent - great location with easy access to both Old Town and the harbor."

What are the most popular first-day activities when starting a tour in Dubrovnik?

Tours typically start with afternoon walks through Old Town a UNESCO World Heritage site. Visitors explore the Franciscan Monastery wander the Stradun promenade and walk the historic city walls. Many groups gather for welcome dinners at waterfront restaurants like Proto or Nautika. The Mount Srđ cable car experience often rounds out the first day. As shared by a TourRadar traveler: "Our first day walking tour with the local guide was fantastic - seeing the city walls and learning the history while watching the sunset over the Adriatic was magical."

What are the most common first stops after departing Dubrovnik?

The first port of call is usually Korčula Island or the Elaphiti Islands. Sailing tours often head to Korčula where visitors can explore Marco Polo's birthplace and sample local wines. Land-based itineraries frequently begin with the Elaphiti Islands known for swimming spots and walking trails. Some tours include visits to Lokrum Island or Mljet National Park. As a TourRadar traveler mentioned: "The journey from Dubrovnik to Korčula was stunning with plenty of swimming spots along the way."

What's the best time to start a tour from Dubrovnik?

Tours operate best from May through September when Mediterranean weather is most reliable. While July and August bring warm temperatures they also draw the largest crowds. Many experienced travelers choose May June or September for pleasant weather and fewer tourists. As one TourRadar traveler mentioned: "We started our tour in early September and it was perfect - still warm enough for swimming but not overcrowded like mid-summer."

What are the most popular routes for tours starting from Dubrovnik?

The classic route follows the Dalmatian coast north stopping at islands like Mljet Korcula Hvar before reaching Split. Popular stops include Slano for its oyster farms Mljet National Park with its salt lakes and Korcula's historic birthplace of Marco Polo.
