Are the accommodations hotels with private bathrooms

Yes, the accommodations used on our tours are hotels, and the rooms include private en-suite bathrooms for your comfort.

Does this allow optional whale watching in Hermanus in August? And for the Kruger Safari, is the game drive included inside the package?

That is actually one of the Optional Excursions that our Operations Team is planning to offer for this tour this year. Although, it is not yet confirmed at this point and we do not have any estimates on when it would start to be offered. As this point, we can only advise to keep track on the Tour Page as updates (e.g. changes in the itinerary, new Optional Excursions, etc.) are updated on the website in real time once confirmed.

Are the 12th - 25 Apr or the 26 Apr - 29 May tours guaranteed/ confirmed departure yet OR is there no minimum number of participants required and tours go ahead anyway

The South African Escape tour from 12th – 25th April 2026 is confirmed. We haven't received any updates or notifications from our head office suggesting that the tour will not go ahead. The maximum number of travellers for this tour is 48. While we aim to maximize participation, if numbers are lower, our operations team will assess the tour to determine if it will proceed.

Is "South Africa escape with Victoria Falls" available in april or may? How much does it cost in private double occupancy configuration?

The tour is available in April and May 2026, including the departure on Sunday, 12 April 2026, subject to availability at the time of booking. As a solo traveller, you would be paired in a twin room with another traveller of the same gender. If you prefer your own room, a single supplement applies, which provides private occupancy for the duration of the tour. The exact tour price and single supplement cost can vary by departure date, so for April 12th departure, the price is at 1055 USD for the private room upgrade.

Here's the current list of optional excursions for the South African Escape tour, including the price and a brief description. Most optional excursions can be arranged directly with your tour leader during the trip and paid in local cash or by credit card. Please note that pricing and availability are subject to change, especially for departures far in advance.

Does this tour include Victoria Falls? Can you arrange international flights?

The South Africa Escape tour you are booked on does not include Victoria Falls. We do, however, offer a separate tour, the South Africa Escape with Victoria Falls, which specifically includes a visit to Victoria Falls as part of the itinerary. Regarding flights, we unfortunately do not arrange international flights for travelers. All pre-tour and post-tour flights would need to be booked independently.

Does this tour include the entrances and guides in Kruger?

Yes, the tour does include a full day safari drive inside Kruger National Park. You will spend the day in Kruger with your Tour Leader, and all sightseeing is included. The open-vehicle guided game drives (Full Day / Half Day / Evening) are optional extras and not included in the standard tour.

Would it be possible to book for 2027 departures, specifically for May 2nd, and potentially secure the current discount?

2027 departure list has not yet been released. We anticipate having more information around January 2026. Once 2027 departures are published, we'll assist with securing the traveler's preferred date and confirming available discounts.

The weather significantly impacted the South African Escape Tour I participated in during May 2026. I take my hat off to the Tour Leader and Driver who spent several hours exploring alternate routes to take if roads and bridges were affected by flooding and landslides along the Garden Route. Their priority was to keep us safe, and all group members sincerely appreciated this. A number of anticipated Optional Excursions could not be offered as it was too dangerous to do so. If the weather had been better I would have rated this trip 5 stars.Show more

On the whole I saw a great deal of South Africa in the South African Escape Tour via the Garden and Panorama Routes. However, the weather was atrocious for the first leg necessitating a great deal of hard work by the Tour Leader and Driver to get us on viable roads to keep us safe. A number of optional excursions had to be cancelled e.g. the Marine Big 5, Cango Caves etc because of the weather e.g. tides, landslides - washed away roads etc. Most of the places we visited were damp underfoot placing extra strain on people carrying injuries e.g. bad knees , disc injuries etc. The entire tour was exhausting due to the early departures. There were a few gems when it came to accommodation e.g.the Windsor Hotel in Hermanus; Tsitsikamma Village Inn and Timbatavi Guest Lodge in the Kruger Region. The food on the whole was adequate. Most of the wineries and tastings we participated in were outstanding. The three game drives were highlights creating many special memories for group members.Show more

Loved South Africa, but we were disappointed with Expat Explore! I would definitely recommend going to South Africa, but using another company. Positives: - The tour covered a lot of South Africa - it was quite intense but that's the nature given just how much is covered in so few days! So it was a good route for trying to see everything South Africa has to offer. - The tour guide, Willem, was great! Energetic and helpful and always had things to entertain us on the long journeys. - Most hotels were good, all at least satisfactory. Again this is only as expected, but to manage expectations for those considering the tour. Negatives: - Terrible pre-tour treatment and info. We had to postpone and had a letter from Dr saying unfit to travel and TourRadar trying to assist but they made us forfeit money saying they'd spent it. Yet when I asked what hotels and flight info we had, they hadn't organised it yet, so was a lie. - No pre-tour info sent and anything sent was incorrect. We had info on 'our trip to Europe'. Still chasing for info on day 1 of tour! This caused us (and we know others on the tour too!) a lot of anxiety and stress. - Info then sent was incorrect - excursions changed, excursions missing, prices incorrect. This meant we did not have enough money and lost money due to having to pay bank fees to draw out internationally. - Tour information misleading. E.g. said there is an included game drive in Kruger but there is not, you drive through Kruger on the bus, so not the same thing and means that tour is less value for money when this is all factored in. - Collection of cash for excursions not appropriate - making us carry large sums of cash unsafe and this was not collected on a regular basis. - Felt rushed through some excursions. E.g. paid for a meal and Post-Diving debrief in the Shark Diving excursion and didn't get to do either due to being told needed to leave. - Those who had dietary needs sometimes didn't get options, and ended up having to pay for their own additional food. Please note, however, this was typically the hotels own fault and not Expats. - Expat Explore said could not organise pre/post tour accomodations but then was doing it for some people, so unfair treatment based on where you book via. Rooms not always equal in quality between tour goers. Overall, we had a good time there, met lovely people and experienced the culture and great environmental and activity offers. The tour guide meant it was better than the pre-tour experience had us worried it would be. However, it felt like Expat Explore was very amateur and definitely unorganized. This caused us stress and anxiety and wasted us a lot of money. We've traveled with other tour providers and not felt like this, so was very disappointed. But the country itself was absolutely incredible so don't let it put you off going to South Africa! I just would recommend doing it with another tour company.Show more

Very comfortable pace tour, and u will get to see most of the good stuffs. It could have been shorter but at the expense of rush factor. But it's very comfortable for me. The tour guide Matt, and our driver Benny, were both very professional, with Benny also being a high average driver. Just take note of the optional tours and it's prices that you are keen to take up and prepare some cash in advance. Matt will arrange time for ATM visits occasionally though. Nice tour!Show more

  Just to clarify, there is no separate "Panorama Tour" option listed for this itinerary. However, what you may have seen referred to is already included in Day 13 of the South African Escape tour, which covers the Panorama Route.
  
  On this day, the itinerary includes a scenic drive through Mpumalanga with stops at:
  -Three Rondavels viewpoint overlooking the Blyde River Canyon
  -Blyde River Canyon viewpoints
  -Bourke's Luck Potholes, a natural rock formation and water feature
  
  After these visits, the group continues back to Johannesburg for a farewell dinner.

As a solo traveller, you would be paired in a twin room with another traveller of the same gender. If you prefer your own room, a single supplement applies, which provides private occupancy for the duration of the tour. The exact tour price and single supplement cost can vary by departure date, so for April 12th departure, the price is at 1055 USD for the private room upgrade.

  The South Africa Escape tour you are booked on does not include Victoria Falls. We do, however, offer a separate tour, the South Africa Escape with Victoria Falls, which specifically includes a visit to Victoria Falls as part of the itinerary. Regarding flights, we unfortunately do not arrange international flights for travelers. All pre-tour and post-tour flights would need to be booked independently.

Does this tour include the entrances and guides in Kruger?

  Yes, the tour does include a full day safari drive inside Kruger National Park. You will spend the day in Kruger with your Tour Leader, and all sightseeing is included. The open-vehicle guided game drives (Full Day / Half Day / Evening) are optional extras and not included in the standard tour.

Payment information
- For any tour departing before October 4th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after October 4th, 2026, a minimum payment of 10% is required to confirm your booking with Expat Explore Travel. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 65 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
- Some departure dates and prices may vary and Expat Explore Travel will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
- The following cards are accepted for "Expat Explore Travel" tours: Visa, Maestro, Mastercard, American Express or PayPal. TourRadar does NOT charge you an extra fee for using any of these payment methods.
