I've been fortunate enough to join Brett on two trips with Social Cycles now, met some awesome like minded people and had some great laughs As you would expect, the accommodation is not 5 star but clean, comfortable and compĺemented with friendly staff. The Reid mountain bicycles are comfortable, well maintained and fit for purpose, the cycling legs each day, although challenging, are achievable with some training. If you want a cycling adventure holiday with purpose via the road less travelled, visiting and learing from local NGOs, with great people and great food.....this is it Brett and his support team are very well organised, professional and great fun to tour with Looking forward to my next trip with Social Cycles. I enjoyed every single moment of the tour from phom pehn to seim reip. The riding, temples, culture, food & new friends that i made and learing about the NGO'S was enjoyable. all the accomodation was good and Brett is a brilliant guide and gives plenty of info on the way, and his right hand man Hoem cant do enough to help out, i hounestly wouldn't change a thing.

My husband and I travelled with Social Cycles through Cambodia in Jan 2016 and had the most amazing experience! Brett is a great tour guide and the man of the situation to handle all the unexpected. He was accompanied by Hoem (a man of many hats: driver, guide, translator etc.) who is the most delighful person. The tour was organised to spend days cycling and others visiting sights and meeting NGOs. This tour delivered on the promise to RIDE WITH PURPOSE. At the end of the tour, we look back proudly at our cycling achievement and we understand the history and present challenges facing this country and how the NGOs contribute (or not in some cases) to helping the people of Cambodia. Overall it was a enriching experience and it is only a matter of time until we book our next adventure with Social Cycles.

Our cycling tour of Cambodia with Social Cycles was a fantastic experience. Although everything is booked and arranged for you during the trip, this is not a 'luxury' tour. The days on the bike can be tough, with up to 100km under the Combodian sun, but it's worth it to see the villages and countryside up close and at a human speed. The non-cycling days combine visits to tourist hotspots and meetings with NGOs to learn about how they are handling the challenges facing Cambodia. On every level, this was a rewarding and eye-opening trip!

Travelling by bicycle across Cambodia is not only an enriching experience, but also one that you're not likely to forget anytime soon. Some days were definitely more challenging than others and the off road cycling meant we were all in for an adventurous day ahead. We all loved it! During our visit, we were also given an opportunity to meet with a number of different NGOs. Although it was confronting at times, it was a definite highlight for me. I can't say that you would get the same experience with any other tour.

I joined Social Cycles for their Cambodia tour (Phnom Pehn to Siem Riep) in November 2016. It was a great trip, lots of fun, a few challenges, some excitement and some unexpected experiences (can't give away all the secrets of the tour) and some light education about the social situation in Cambodia (through visits to some NGOs). A very enjoyable, worth while cycling holiday. I highly recommend it.

Our Social Cycles tour in Cambodia was absolutely fantastic! Brett was a very friendly guide with a big smile and plenty of motivating words when my cycle-legs were flagging. The NGO visits fostered a lot of important discussion as we learnt about the individual organisations as well as Cambodian history and culture, sustainable tourism and international development. I found both the visits and the subsequent conversations and private ponderings challenging and very rewarding. The accommodation was comfortable (nothing like aircon after a day cycling!) and organised meals and snacks were great. Cycling through small villages gave us an interesting look into everyday Cambodian life and even though the unusually late wet season had a couple of surprises in store for us, it was nothing that mud-soaked clothing and a lot of laughs couldn't fix!

In Jan & Feb this year I did back to back Social Cycles tours (Cambodia) then Cambodia to Vietnam. I was a fit 75 yo marathon kayaker at the time with a bit of cycling experience. I found out about these trips through Melbourne's Around the Bay event. As a retired person that has to balance seeing it all whilst watching the pennies. These two tours seemed great value. This turned out to be very true. The accommodation was surprisingly more than adequate often with a pool to rest the weary bones. Brett our tour leader could not be faulted. His help with local problems. His vast knowledge of great safe eating place in these Asian parts. A great help especially when you are trying not to get belly problems. On tour he was in control of any situation that arose at all times. I was amazed that two counties that share borders could be so different. Cambodia with It's tragic recent history, S21, the people and kids (Hello's by the million), Food, 50c icy pots, remoteness, Tuk Tuk's, Mt Bokor (Wow), variety, (Don't miss the circus in Siem Reap) This show is put on by street kids & makes for a perfect finale to a great tour, back-up driver & vehicle, riding in the mad traffic. Vietnam. More modern with all of the above plus fantastic rides along the Mekong, Street food. Advice: Heed the warnings on Social Cycles itinerary. i.e. Medication, heat & humidity, preparation on distances on a Mountain bike. If you do any of the above tours i hope you had as much fun as I did.

If you love cycling, are interested in travelling, experiencing culture, the great outdoors and learning about NGOs then this is the perfect tour for you. A full supported cycling tour around Cambodia, where you'll get to experience the hustle and bustle of Phnom Penh, the colours of Battambang and the magic of Angkor Wat. You'll learn about the devastation of the country's history but experience the resilience and gentle hearted nature of the Cambodian people. Most importantly you'll learn about and visit different NGOs striving to make Cambodia a better place for the future. A challenging, eye opening but rewarding adventure. Cycling is tough, but doable. I would highly recommend joining the training meet ups prior to the trip. Brett is lovely. Hom the support van driver is also a gem!

i travelled to Cambodia with Social Cycles in June 2016. The trip was as described in that it is generally cycling one day followed by meeting with NGO's the next. This tour was unlike any I had experienced beforehand in that it shows you situations you would probably never experience on your own. The cycling itself was challenging but not insurmountable for me . I was 60 at the time and had never cycled 100km in a day before i started training 5 weeks before leaving although I had cycled plenty of 80k days. Cambodia is hot and humid but the tour is very flat and there was little wind. Combined with the fact you cycle every second day and massages are cheap I think most people with a little training could complete the whole route and if not there is the sag wagon. The social component is really interesting and I really did not realise the extent of the fake orphanage trade in Cambodia and the work of various organisations this social evil. Brett is an excellent guide both and takes you to places you would never imagine. The off road segments are fantastic. As a food and beverage professional he made sure that we tried different foods in a safe environment. No one got sick on our tour and we dined at several interesting social entreprises. The sag wagon had plenty of cold water in the cooler. Accommodation was generally in very comfortable 3 star hotels. All in all I would recommend this tour to anyone who likes to cycle and would like to see a different side to a country than the usual tourist routes.
