Cambodia Small Group Tours
Cambodia offers more than most people think. From Angkor's temples near Siem Reap through Mekong River villages to Tonle Sap's floating communities. Routes wind down backroads toward hidden ruins, and be sure to paddle the Mekong where Irrawaddy dolphins still swim. The country's landscapes run from temple-filled jungles around Siem Reap to Tonle Sap's great lake and Mekong communities throughout Cambodia's river-dominated terrain.

Reviews of Small Group tours to Cambodia
- 2 Days Angkor Archaeological Site Group Tour
I like it, but they should have the pick up time for each hotel so we don’t have to wait from 7:30 until whenever they arrive.
- Cambodia Express 8-Day Tour
This tour was very well organized. It included all transfers. The guides were knowledgeable and friendly. The bus rides to and from Battambang were in comfortable highway buses with a 2/1 seating configuration - so seats were wide with lots of leg room. There were bathroom breaks where snacks could be purchased. I mention this because several people have complained about the bus and we were a bit concerned but they were great.
- Enchanting Cambodia: 6-Day Tour of its Pearls
We had a wonderful few days in Siem Reap with our tour guide Mr Raty and the driver were very helpful, personable and extremely friendly. They have been great to spend time with. We couldn’t speak more highly of them. The hotel (Royal Angkor Resort ) was also terrific. It was a little further out of town but we felt this gave us peace and quiet in what were very busy days and it was very pleasant. It was easy to get a tuk tuk using Grab into the main part of town when we wanted to. We saw everything that we needed to see around Siem Reap and had time to do massages and a dance show in our own time. Moving to Phnom Penh was very well organised and provided a very different experience to Siem Reap but one that we felt important to do to understand the history of Cambodia. Again, another excellent hotel and well informed tour guide with Mr Samsut the driver Mr Koy. Seeing the Killing Fields and the prison was very sobering. All in all, this was a wonderful trip and we both would highly recommend it. I’m glad we extended our stay and took a couple of leisure days.
What our customers ask about Cambodia Small Group Tours
What is the ideal group size for exploring temples like Angkor Wat in Cambodia?
Data from TourRadar shows that groups of 8-12 travelers provide the best balance for temple exploration in Cambodia. "Exploring the back roads of Cambodia and immersing ourselves in the stunning beauty was an enlightening experience - we were able to witness so many things we would have never encountered in a large group." This size allows easy movement through smaller temples like Ta Prohm and Bayon while maintaining the social dynamics of group travel. These tours often use accommodations like Central Corner d'Angkor or Tara Angkor Hotel which cater well to intimate groups.
What are the typical costs differences between small group and large group tours in Cambodia?
Small group tours in Cambodia command $150-250 per day while larger group experiences run $80-120. The premium covers stays at select properties like Tara Angkor Hotel in Siem Reap or Sun & Moon Urban Hotel in Phnom Penh plus dedicated guide attention. A TourRadar traveler puts it simply: "The tour guide was patient and gave us time to explore. We were able to visit places at our own pace and really soak in the culture."
What unique experiences are possible with small group tours in Cambodia that aren't available to larger groups?
Small tours open doors to experiences like visits to family homes in Siem Reap's surrounding villages quiet boat trips on Tonle Sap Lake and access to secluded temples. A TourRadar participant notes: "We traveled to places where we were the only people at some ruins. Our guide took us through the back countries of Cambodia where we could witness daily life up close." These groups can also participate in sunrise photography sessions at Angkor Wat or cooking lessons in local homes.
How does accommodation differ for small group tours versus large group tours in Cambodia?
Boutique and heritage properties characterize small group lodging with places like Central Corner d'Angkor in Siem Reap or Sun & Moon Urban Hotel in Phnom Penh leading the way. These intimate hotels typically offer 20-40 rooms versus the hundreds found in large group hotels. A TourRadar guest notes: "The hotels were comfortable and in great locations allowing us to explore local markets and restaurants easily."
What makes small group dining experiences different in Cambodia?
Small groups can access family-run establishments and local homes that larger tours simply cannot fit. Examples include intimate dinners at Kanell Restaurant in Siem Reap or meals shared with local families during homestays. As shared by a TourRadar participant: "With our small group we could eat at local family restaurants and street food stalls getting a real taste of authentic Cambodian cuisine rather than tourist restaurants."
How do temple visits differ with a small group in Angkor?
Groups of 8-12 can navigate Angkor's temples during quieter hours avoiding peak crowds. These smaller numbers allow exploration of hidden gems like Ta Nei or Banteay Srei with ample time at each location. According to a TourRadar review: "With our small group we could visit temples early morning or late afternoon when big tour buses weren't around making for a much more peaceful and authentic experience."
