Looking to book a tour of Western Canada with rail option of Gold Leaf on Rocky Mountaineer, followed by an Alaskan cruise (balcony room). Travelling with three people including 10 year old daughter for Sept 2025. Need availability dates and cost for three of us travelling on shared room basis.

For a Triple Room, Gold Leaf and Balcony Cabin Category B on the 9th September 2025 tour "Western Canada by Rail with Alaska Cruise" (Guaranteed departure). Cost is $11,237 per adult (excluding prepaid gratuities and safety net protection) and $10,425.10 for the child (inclusive of young traveller discount). Prices can be subject to change and availability is limited.

I have been on a top deck tour through New Zealand in the past and I know with them they organise all the excursions for you and they ask a couple of days before what we wanted to do in that town. I was just wondering if you are the same? If I need to book the excursions now or if I can do that once we are over there? I have seen on the website that there is a couple in Banff and Jasper. Are these the only excursions?

Optional excursions can be prebooked between 90-4 days before departure or you can book optional excursions on tour with your Tour Director. Optional excursions are offered in Banff and Jasper.

The overall organization was excellent and seamless as was the guide. Our original itinerary was side blinded because of the shutdown of Jasper, so our hotel accommodations for two nights ended up being at a casino somewhere in the plains of Alberta- pretty far from any city center. There were endeavors so keep us entertained although the location for those two nights was less than ideal although the accommodations were bright and clean. The journey on the Royal Mountaineer was elegant, but each day ended up being 14 hours which was way too long. The description said 9-10 hours and I didn't realize that meant each day, and that those days ended up being longer. The service was excellent as was the scenery, just way too long on the train.Show more

A lot of changes were made at the last minute due to the fires in Jasper, so there were issues because of that. But our guide was terrific, and the places and excursions were all terrific. The train ride was excessively long: 14 hours for each of two days, so that we were very weary of sitting on the train, and we never saw Kamloops, just went to bed and got back up in the dark. Most of the train ride was not in the Rockies. The hosts on the train, though, were terrific. Ryan and I've forgotten the other guy's name, but he was particularly entertaining. The food was great. Likewise we had no time but an hour bus tour in Vancouver, which was a disappointment, and we had a half day in Victoria, also a disappiontment. We understood that some of these things were due to the fires and the last-minute changes in our schedule, so we went with the flow. All in all, the first half of the trip in Calgary and especially Banff were by far the best parts.Show more
