- Day 1
Rio de Janeiro
Meet your tour director at 3:30 pm for a scenic drive along Ipanema and Copacabana beaches on your way to Sugarloaf Mountain. The cable car takes you up to the summit where you'll get great views of the city spread out below. Later, there's a private cocktail party with other travelers where you can try traditional caipirinhas and toast while looking out over Guanabara Bay.

Start early with a cog railway ride up Corcovado Mountain to see the Christ the Redeemer statue and get 360-degree views of Rio below. From there, head downtown to check out the Sambodromo and the Cathedral. The afternoon opens up for your own exploration around the city. Dinner brings you to a traditional churrascaria where you'll try various barbecued meats.

Today is yours to spend however you'd like. Relax on one of Rio's famous beaches, browse through the shopping areas, or grab dinner at a nice restaurant. If you're interested, there's an optional excursion to Petropolis available for an extra charge. This former mountain resort and summer palace of Emperor Dom Pedro II sits in the hills outside the city.

Rio de Janeiro to Iguassu Falls
Fly from Rio to Iguassu Falls and experience the spray and roar of this natural wonder. A local guide takes you through Brazil's Iguassu National Park, where you'll see waterfalls from the Brazilian side with some cataracts reaching 250 feet high.

Iguassu Falls
Cross into Argentina by motorcoach to see Iguassu Falls from the Argentine side, which gives you a closer look at the falls. Walk along the catwalks that hang right over the water, and you'll see the Devil's Throat where 14 waterfalls plunge more than 300 feet. After that, take the lower falls trails through the rainforest to see smaller cataracts from up close. Once you head back to the hotel, the rest of your day is free.

Iguassu Falls to Buenos Aires
Cross the border back into Argentina by motorcoach and head to Cataratas del Iguazu International Airport for your flight to Buenos Aires. When you arrive, you'll start getting familiar with the city known as the 'Paris of South America' with its wide streets and outdoor cafes.

Buenos Aires
Begin in La Boca, the vibrant historic district where the city's first port was located, then move to San Telmo with its colonial architecture and artist community. Visit Plaza de Mayo to see La Casa Rosada and the Metropolitan Cathedral, then drive past the Teatro Colón opera house and walk through Recoleta Cemetery. A cooking class teaches you to make traditional empanadas before the afternoon is yours. In the evening, attend a tango lesson at a local milonga, then finish with a farewell dinner featuring Argentine steaks and a professional tango performance.

Buenos Aires (Estancia)
Head out into the pampas to a working Argentine estancia (ranch) and experience rural country life. You'll get a traditional welcome with empanadas and local drinks, then take a carriage ride through the grasslands to see how gauchos (cowboys) live and work. Lunch features Argentine beef, salad, and desserts along with live music and dancing by the gauchos. The day ends with an equestrian demonstration before heading back to the city.

Santiago
A local guide walks you through Santiago's history going back to the 16th century. Start at La Moneda, the official Government Palace, then see the Plaza de Armas with its 18th-century Baroque cathedral. The rest of the day and evening are free for you to do as you like.

Santiago is open for you to explore on your own today. If you want a structured outing, there's an optional excursion to Vina del Mar and Valparaiso that you can add. This trip takes you through Chile's wine country hills, then to the port city of Valparaiso, and finally along the coast to Vina del Mar, known as the Pearl of the Pacific.
