  Our perfect guide, Reetica , saw us through the immense hustle and bustle of the Golden Triangle with professionalism and a calm manner . We put complete trust in her judgement and saw such wonderful things . The tour was full and my only observation / suggestion would be that the whole thing could have ended in Jaipur … everyone could have done their own thing from there on. Reetica couldn’t have done more to help . She gave 100%+ to ensure our safety and enjoyment . Good organisation from home communication to the close of the tour .Show more

  Overall, we enjoyed our tour of India. The culture there is so different than any other place we have travelled, leaving even seasoned travelers a bit shell shocked. Highlights were the Taj, never expected to be so impressed with it as we have seen a lot of architectural wonders in our travels, and the night spent in the village of Tordi Garh. Downside, some of the hotels were not too clean, especially in Varanasi. That hotel was foul. We did book a basic trip, and were expecting some rougher travel, but not that bad. Also, the night trains were a bit of a trial. It would have been nice to be able to upgrade to better berths. And finally, out of 7 people, 5 got sick. That includes our guide!Show more

  This trip was challenging. The overall itinerary and the cities we visited were good but I have many points of feedback: - Most important: rooms in winter should have basic necessities like heating and hot water. - People who book the basic tour should NOT have to participate in what were listed as “optional” activities. Many sales pitches happened on this tour and no one was interested. Would have preferred to spend more time at the sites and having free time to see additional things. - Tour guide should have discretion with the itinerary when scheduling issues happen (we spent 19 hours on a train). We all wanted to see the Red Fort in Agra but didn’t have time because of the train delays. Then we were rushed through the Amber Fort only to sit through a jewelry sales pitch?? This was very frustrating. - People who book the basic tour do so expecting to have free time to explore and recommendations for what to see. Very little of both happened. Many of us booked outside day tours because the tour was missing basic details of the cities and major sites. - Related, I would have preferred the tour guide giving details about the history, background, and social issues of each place we visited. I am used to this from other tours. Perhaps there should be one person responsible for tour logistics and one person actually guiding the tour. Our tour guide spent a lot of time on logistics because of traveling challenges. - Local tour guides at the major sites were lacking. I had much better tour guides when I booked through TripAdvisor, which I did 3 times on this trip. - We weren’t given the daily itinerary each day so that we could plan what to participate in as far at the “optional” activities. All of the activities seemed to be mandatory. That was not how it was described in the tour description. Overall I would not recommend this tour or participate again on an Intrepid tour. I’ve been on several long tours through Mexico, South America, Southeast Asia, Iceland, Israel etc. I am used to the unpredictability of travel and not always being comfortable, but this tour seemed unnecessarily so. For all the reasons I mentioned above it was uncomfortable, confusing, and overall disappointing.Show more
