Itinerary
- Day 1
Lappeenranta
You'll arrive in Lappeenranta and settle in for the night. The town has some interesting historic fortifications worth checking out, and there's a relaxing cruise option along the Saimaa Canal if you want to ease into things. The harbor area is particularly nice during summer evenings, so that's a good spot to grab dinner and get a feel for the place.

Lappeenranta to Lintusalo
Today's a 37 km cycling day with Lake Saimaa on both sides of you. You'll stop in Taipalsaari for their famous oversized ice cream cones (they're actually quite something), then head toward Sarviniemi UNESCO Geopark. After that, you'll catch a ferry across Lake Saimaa to Lintusalo and finish the day with pancakes at the pier. It's a good mix of riding and breaks.

Lintusalo to Puumala
You're cycling 33 km today toward Puumala, a busy summer town right in the middle of Lake Saimaa. The harbor is worth wandering through, and if you're up for it, climb the 28-meter-high bridge for views across the lake and grab coffee at the café up top. There's also an optional solar-powered boat cruise leaving from the harbor if you want to do that instead of or after cycling.

Landmarks Puumala Harbor - Day 4
Puumala to Sulkava
Another 40 km on the bike, this time heading to Sulkava. The town is famous for hosting Finland's largest rowing race, so you'll get a sense of the local pride around that event. The whole area has a peaceful, laid-back feel that's typical of Finnish Lakeland. It's a good spot to relax after the day's ride.

Sulkava to Savonlinna
Cycle 40 km to Savonlinna and you'll come across Olavinlinna Castle, which is the real highlight here. Take a guided tour through this medieval fortress to get the full history. After that, spend some time walking across Savonlinna's charming bridges that connect the islands together. It gives the town a unique character you don't see everywhere.

- Days 6 - 7
Savonlinna to Oravi
You're cycling 42 km to Oravi today, and you'll stay here for two nights. The location between Linnansaari and Kolovesi national parks gives you plenty to do. Kayaking and guided fishing are available, and there's a boat trip option to Linnansaari National Park. End your days with an authentic Finnish sauna experience down at Oravi Harbor. It's a chance to really slow down.

Oravi to Varkaus
Your final cycling day is a longer one at 63 km into Varkaus, an industrial city with interesting architecture that tells Finland's industrialization story. On the way, you'll cross the Taipale Canal. If you're lucky with timing, you might see large boats passing through the locks, which is a cool thing to watch.

Landmarks Taipale Canal - Days 9 - 11
Lappeenranta - Imatra
Back in Lappeenranta for three days of golf at two courses. You'll play two rounds at Viipurin Golf-Etelä-Saimaa (18 holes with lake views) and one round at Imatra Golf Club (18 holes overlooking Immalanjärvi Lake). If golf isn't your thing, the three days give you time for sightseeing around town or just relaxing along Lake Saimaa.
