The tour is a step into a magical world. It’s a very well organised tour with excellent guides. I had different ones for each city and they were all fantastic. All of them had so much information to share and I loved the inside into their lives. Each city has their own character. Samarkand has magnificent sights in different parts of the city. The hotel roof terrace overlooks Registan Square. Bukhara has a compact old city complete with trading domes. A marvel. In Khiva you stay inside the old town and soak up the atmosphere. Everywhere felt safe to walk around. Uzbeks are so friendly and delighted to see tourists. They make the world feel like a nicer place. I loved the food. The national is Plov which is delicious comfort food. It’s worth trying all the classic dishes. A shout out to the fried egg plant salad. €12 buys a fantastic meal. Visit Uzbekistan I cannot recommend it highly enough.Show more

Amazing experience overall that was worth the price! All the guides were wonderful especially Zaure in Almaty who gave us so much information about culture and way of life!! Ayana also deserves special mention. Some points for improvement: - we arrived too early for trains and flights which could be better timed especially from Khiva where the early morning meant missing breakfast even though another tour group from the same hotel got to have breakfast yet still arrived well in time for the same flight - it would be good to send communication regarding guides, numbers on a joint WhatsApp group with all tour members rather than one person only. - the time in kyrgystan felt quite short, it would be nice to visit another lake or hike in the mountains etc. The gorge visit could be missed as was a bit of an anticlimax. - hotel in Almaty and issyk kul lake had a very bad smell from the shower, possibly feedback for the individual hotels - it would be good to know beforehand that ATMs are widely available for cash withdrawal in all the main stops on the tour and that it is worth bringing swimwear to use in the hotels. - would include city walls in khiva tour. Miss out first madrasa turned hotel.Show more

We had an amazing time on this tour from Tashkent to Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva and Ayazkala. Odil replied to us very quickly and we felt reassured that everything was in hand and well organised, and he also helped us organise an addition to our tour including going to the mountains afterwards for some R&R in Chimgan and Amirsoy. On the ground we had the pleasure of meeting the local team including Bek and Muhammad who looked after us really well and helped us with transfers and were always on-hand via WhatsApp with any questions we had. The trip worked well as a partially guided tour with a good mix of our own time as well as lots of information and incredible sightseeing with local guides who were experts in their area including Sordor, Zara and Shahnoz; shout out to Muna especially who was absolutely amazing and took us to play Russian billiards which we loved! This was a great tour and the team seemed quite flexible in terms of what we wanted to do so I would definitely recommend them if you're thinking of travelling around Uzbekistan. Payment information
- For any tour departing before June 24th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after June 24th, 2026, a minimum payment of 20% is required to confirm your booking with Steppe Journeys. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 70 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
