Our Guide Justin was a wonderful mix of historical information to everyday life as well as being enthusiastic about the activities that were on offer throughout the tour. The itinerary was a good mix of things to do as well as quiet time on the bus travelling between destinations. Some days were a little long getting to the hotels which didn't suit us this could have been reduced by shorter lunch breaks or time at highlight stops.

this was the most interesting, fascinating and enjoyable trip I have been on...and I have been on quite a few others. It was an area I had never been in before and of which I knew very little. I came away in love with the countries. The pace of the trip was nearly perfect, the accommodations excellent, and the adventures were kind of other worldly. But all that almost pales in comparison when considering the guides...the Guides were as good, as knowledgeable, as friendly and as helpful as any that i could ever imagine. I WANT TO GO BACK!

Best time to visit Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan
- Spring 2026
Spring tours through Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan are perfectly timed to catch mild temperatures and blooming valleys. Our most popular April-May routes start in Bishkek, where you'll spend a day exploring the city before heading into the Chong-Kemin Valley - it's particularly beautiful when the meadows fill with wildflowers. Several tours include overnight stays in traditional yurt camps along Lake Issyk-Kul's southern shore, and our travelers consistently mention how special it is to wake up to snow-capped mountains reflected in the clear waters. The cultural experiences really shine this time of year - you can learn felt-making in Kochkor, watch eagle hunters demonstrate their ancient skills and participate in traditional bread-making workshops. In Uzbekistan, spring means comfortable temperatures for exploring Samarkand's Registan Square, wandering through Bukhara's trading domes and climbing the ancient walls of Khiva.

- Summer 2026
Summer brings the chance to really dive into Kyrgyzstan's mountain landscapes, with several routes taking advantage of good weather for hiking in the Jety-Oguz Gorge and around Song Kul Lake. Our travelers particularly enjoy the longer daylight hours for photography in places like Fairy Tale Canyon, where the red sandstone formations catch beautiful evening light. Many summer itineraries include stays with farming families near Karakol, where you can help with traditional yurt building and learn about nomadic life. The high-altitude routes through the Suusamyr Valley are especially popular in July and August, when the plateau turns into a carpet of alpine flowers. Over in Uzbekistan, early morning starts help beat the heat while exploring the ancient cities, and our guides know exactly when to schedule indoor activities like visiting the Konigil paper workshops or learning to cook plov with local families.
- Fall / Autumn 2026
Our popular fall tours weave through Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, blending outdoor adventures with deep cultural experiences. Starting from Bishkek, travelers wind through the Chon-Kemin Valley where autumn paints the meadows in rich gold. Many of our guests choose to spend nights in traditional yurt camps along Lake Issyk-Kul's southern shore, and they often tell us how magical it feels to see snow-capped peaks mirrored in the clear waters during these crisp mornings. Fall months bring perfect conditions for cultural connections - from hands-on felt-making workshops in Kochkor to watching skilled eagle hunters at work, and joining local families for traditional bread-making sessions. Uzbekistan offers equally engaging experiences in autumn, with pleasant temperatures for exploring Samarkand's Registan Square, discovering Bukhara's merchant domes, and walking the historic walls of Khiva. Our travelers appreciate how these journeys balance activity with cultural depth - you might spend one morning helping construct a yurt, then dedicate your afternoon to studying centuries-old madrasa architecture or learning family plov recipes in local homes.
