Arrival in Mauritius
You'll land at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport and grab your rental car. After going through the paperwork and checking the vehicle condition, drive to Belle Mare and check into your hotel. Options include trying yoga or snorkeling, walking through Bras d'Eau National Park if nature interests you, playing a round of golf, checking out the local markets in Centre de Flacq, or cycling through the palm trees and sugarcane fields inland.

- Day 3
Belle Mare to Port Louis
Drive from Belle Mare to Port Louis, the capital, which is about 25 km away. Once there, walk through the historic center to see the mix of colonial charm and tropical energy. Head to the Central Market to try authentic Mauritian street food and take in the spice and fresh produce aromas. You'll see French and British colonial architecture throughout the streets, and the Blue Penny Museum has the famous Blue Mauritius stamp from 1847, one of the rarest stamps in the world.

- Day 4
Le Morne
Start early and head to Le Morne Brabant mountain for views across the lagoons and Indian Ocean. From there, drive into Chamarel's tropical area to see the Chamarel Waterfall and the Seven Coloured Earths, which is a geologic site with different colored soil layers. Later, take a walk through Ebony Forest where you're above the treetops with views toward the southwest coast. Finish the day at Rhumerie de Chamarel to taste some local rum and learn how it's made.

- Day 7
Departure from Mauritius
After six days exploring Mauritius, it's time to head home. Return your rental car to Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport. Fill the tank close to the airport and keep the receipt, then inspect the vehicle for any damage before handing it back. Plan to arrive at the airport at least three hours before your flight to handle check-in and other procedures.
